Tried tuning it?
It shouldn't be cold enough in QLD to be a real issue.
Firstly check the choke isn't stuck on.
Next: check your points are good, and your timing is right.
If that's good.. Next..
Fully seat the mixture screw (the one on the right), then back it on three and a half turns), start engine and adjust timing to spec (or do it by ear)
Check the timing, adjust if need be then adjust the mixture screw to within half a turn of where it's at now, then adjust the idle to get it to around 750rpm +/- 50rpm or so.
Failing that, get a rebuild kit, or a new carby.
When tuned well, these engines and carbys will run quite nicely!
