    Default 2T carby?

    hey all,

i have a 2T engine in my ke50, only recently it has started playing up a bit (wouldnt idle, backfiring abnormally, absolute bitch to drive when its cold etc). ive got it sussed down to the carb, which had been playing up with idle speeds since i got it.. but im looking at a few options.
    1. rebuild the carb thats on it.
    2. find another 2T carb and hope it works better than my current one
    3. ive heard that the 32/36? off of a cortina are a good upgrade for these engines, however, how much modification is needed to fit these and also would they cost much more than getting my current one rebuilt?
any other suggestions would be great.

    Tried tuning it?
It shouldn't be cold enough in QLD to be a real issue.

Firstly check the choke isn't stuck on.

Next: check your points are good, and your timing is right.

    If that's good.. Next..

Fully seat the mixture screw (the one on the right), then back it on three and a half turns), start engine and adjust timing to spec (or do it by ear)

Check the timing, adjust if need be then adjust the mixture screw to within half a turn of where it's at now, then adjust the idle to get it to around 750rpm +/- 50rpm or so.

Failing that, get a rebuild kit, or a new carby.

When tuned well, these engines and carbys will run quite nicely!

my one used to do dis all the time, i just kept pullin the thing apart and cleaning it out and was good untill the rusty fuel tank sent some more shit up the line but yeah try cleaning it all out first not to hard to do, just make a note of were every thing goes, and lay it all out in a nice white rag

Redline weber adapters can be had from repco for around 50 dollars.

Cheap briliant upgrade, I'm running my 2t with a weber atm. Cost me 20 bucks for the weber 50 for the adapter and 100ish for a full rebuild kit. So 170 for a load better power and drivability.

    Cheers.
