Looks like at one stage you were considering modifying the trim (you've marked it with a texta)... what made you go with the big sucker of a marine battery box?
I have on many occassions looked at that piece of trim and thought I could probably squeeze a little sealed battery in that corner so your marked piece of trim has me thinking again!

the marks are still there toobs - that idea is till in the works though it needed a batery box for the time being to make iot look ok .. my little battery died , si i needed nto replace nit with a standard size one , still waiting on the warrnty for it ..

so as soon as i get that back , a proper sealed battery ill reasses the litle battery idea ..

i just hope theres enought length in my cabling to make it work + so i can fab up maybe a fiberglass custom box or something

Anyone doing this, should use a sealed battery. Charging batteries produced explosive and poisonous gases, not much but you can't be to carefull.

Yeah no worries, but there isn't alot of ventilation in the boot and if your driving with the windows up...

Regardless of the type of battery used (sealed or un-sealed) the battery box needs to be sealed and vented to the outside of the car. There has been some deliberation about this. I initially though that this meant it had to be completely sealed (Marine battery boxes are not sealed), however I was told by people that marine boxes are OK, provided they have a hose which vents to the outside.

The only reason I can think of for it not needing to be sealed is if your boot is already sealed becuase of fuel tanks mounted in the boot (Soarers). however you'd need to check on this.

So in theory, the initial one in this thread is illegal. (lack of ventilation to the outside)

Note: Fuel setups are the same. If they are in the boot, they must be sealed and vented to the outside. Just becuase people dont do this doesn't make it legal

Heavy duty welding cable can be purchased from BOC. Last time I went there, I got 10m for $8.50\m. If you get 55mm^2 that is almost identical to 0 gauge cable. So getting lugs and distribution blocks to fit is no problem.

A nice big fuse (200-300 amps) fitted near the battery, or a circuit breaker is also essential (I prefer fuses and they have a little give to them), but each to their own. This is to protect the cable\battery should it happen to earth the main wire. With heavy wire, the battery will melt before the cable catches on fire.

A small Odyssey fits perfectly to the side of the engine bay as well.

Handy for running FMIC piping, if you didn't want to go to the hassle of rearmounting for this reason.
