RT132 and some XT130's have them
can anyone tell me what model corona struts have the sumitomo brakes on them, I had a celica a while back that i was told had corona strut bottoms with the sumitomo calipers and a vented disc. it was all bolt in job as far as I know,
just wondering if anyone knnows what I am talking about and knows the model so I can go get some more for my current car.

RT132 and some XT130's have them
- ma61 + 2jz-gte + v160 + 3.5 torsen
They do apparently bolt in...However, they are 30 mm longer, so the car will sit slightly higher and your camber may be affected. I'm looking into getting mine shortened...

are you saying the whole strut including spring etc is longer, or just the base of it?Originally Posted by shelldrake
I'm pretty sure when we did mine last time we used the RA23 king springs and kyb shocks with the ra23 top mount on it and it didn't look to sit any higher...
have also just found out that there was a spacer inbetween the calliper to allow for the vented disc...

yes xt130 are same as ra23/28 except the caliper mount is part of the stub axle backing and stud spacing of 90mm as apposed to ra23/28 which the caliper bracket is a part of the dust shield - is removable - and has bolt spacing of 140mm.

so in other words the bottom of the struts are the same just the brakes on the corona strut are bigger than the celica one. which wouldn't be a bad budget upgrade for an 18rgOriginally Posted by TA-022

suggestion?
go to the XT130 struts, fill the the tube with XXmm of steel washers if the corona strut insert is longer that the celica, install the celica shock insert, get low-riding springs, refit wheels and do skids and better stops ... then once you're back driving, take your time to organise hilux calipers and pug disks for a proper brake upgrade (e.g. stage 2)
It's a two step process but you get: better brakes and slightly lowered suspension
strut inserts have same part numbers for ra23/28/40/60 and xt130
i can confirm this.![]()

ta-022 is correct. my struts in my ta22 (which are xt130) use xt130 which are also ra23/28/40/60 struts
Just a question, do the sumitomo brakes and calipers bolt up to a xt130 strut that doesnt have these brakes as standard??
Cheers
i think so ... tho if they've come off an old crown that had non-ventilated disks or had disks in a different position (relative to the caliper mounts) you may have to space the caliper to centre it over your new disk.
are the corona discs actually vented or solid?

solid
The hilux calipers are made for vented discs (thats why people choose the peugot disc instead of the corona)
I have an RT132 in my back yard, bought for parts for my projects and it does not have vented rotors,
it does have twin piston calipers.
