1980RIP NATHAN BRETT DEAN2007,
Sound like the Carbon Canister, does it mount on the passenger side of the engine bay, about where the strut tower is?
if so then yeah it's needs to be hooked back up to the fuel tank, sorry I cant be more precise with what the four lines are though.

hmm i thought there wus only 3 lines for the fuel tank.
Fuel to the bay, Fuel return and carbon canistor line.
There will be a fuel filter (needed) connected to the Fuel to the bay line and then is connected to the mechanical pump, and fuel return shud be connected to the return of the mechanical pump. The carbon canitstor (black round thing) is connected on the carbon canistor line.
There are 4 small lines that attach to the tank in a square pattern. these go to the charcoal canister in the side panel. The fuel filler and a breather attach close to this. There are two fuel lines which sit on top of the fuel tank, you can access them through a panel under the spare wheel. It sounds very much like the charcoal canister. have a look at the mounting points behind the panel. You will at least need to connect something to the 4 places on the tank at very least to stop leaking and forien materila going into tank. How legal you want the emissions to be in your vehicle will dictate whether you connect it or not.

The four lines (the ones in a square pattern next to the fuel filler) go to a plastic liquid separtor.
It is *not* a charcoal filter.
The plastic fuel separator is simply there to make sure fuel (only vapor) from the tank doesnt flow down the vent line which runs to the charcoal canistor in the engine bay.
