Loud Exhausts on 4AGZE's

ey all, ive gone from a 4AGE to a 4AGZE in my AE86 Toyota Sprinter, the exhaust has the same note off boost as the old engine, however when its on boost it screams! ridiculouslly screams, or should i say whines...!!! My friends Calibra with an exhaust sounds the same! Stupid!!!! haha

Anyway i'm not sure of the exact measurements of my extractors or exhaust. Nore am i sure what sort of muffler is currently on there. It all came with the car when i bought it. I can measure up the diameter of the piping if it will help solve my problem. ( The piping isn't to big, i dont think this will be the source of the problem, though still open to ideas!!!)

Bassically though i wanted to find out what mufflers / piping sizing people were using on there 4AGZE setups. If you could put up some details or even sound files that would be great. Help me to work out what to put on my shopping list!!!!

The whine is the supercharger. There's no way to shut that up at all.
You verify what I say fairly easily by getting someone to rev it in neutral while you listen closely in the engine bay.

The whine is the straight cut gears on the supercharger meshing. Mine becomes most noticable at about 4000rpm when it's a distinctive WHAAAAA. Mine has a bigger pulley, so it's possible yours will become noticable a tiny bit later.

The other thing is that the twincam heads absolutely scream their nuts off anyway, and it only gets worse the more air you put through it.
My GZE had a 2 1/4" exhaust off the headers, a cat, single resonator, and then a Lukey SuperTurbo "dogleg" (i.e. not direct flow) muffler. This breathed quite nicely, and was reasonable at lower RPM, but was still quite loud at higher RPM.

I've got kellam extractors, into a 2.25 cat, 2.25 straight through offset in offset out, 2.25 hotdog resonator, then finished off with a cannon.
I'm sure the cannon does nothing, maybe it makes it louder like a megaphone.
It's not too loud, although i would like a almost silent exhaust, so it's too loud for me.

I drove it to the exhaust shop with just the extractors, that was loud. And when the supercharger kicked in it increased tenfold.

Mine is of legal requirments i think it was 86.somthing last tested

sytem goes as

extractors>2 1/4pipe>cat>2 1/4pipe>resinator>over diff 2 1/4 pipe>dogleg muffler all 2 1/4

I get a bit of a note, very quiet, but I want louder, wanna swap?

It sounds like you have a 2.5 inch exhaust. Your exhaust shop can add a resonator or two to help reduce loudness. This should not affect performance.

10 PSI would suggest a 164mm crank pulley

I am running some custom 4-1 extractors 2.5 cat, 2.5 piping, a long muffler and 2.5 tip. Also i have a 175mm crank pulley. The car rumbles at low rpm and get louder as the rpm increases to a scream at high rpm.
