The whine is the supercharger. There's no way to shut that up at all.
You verify what I say fairly easily by getting someone to rev it in neutral while you listen closely in the engine bay.
The whine is the straight cut gears on the supercharger meshing. Mine becomes most noticable at about 4000rpm when it's a distinctive WHAAAAA. Mine has a bigger pulley, so it's possible yours will become noticable a tiny bit later.
