Welding to a strut, concerns/issues?

you could borrow mine but im in newcastle. go buy some about $30 gets you a set, when i got mine i figured it would be something id use for a single job and never touch again. but i cant count how many times ive used them since.

infact i chucked out the other day like 17 dead strut cartridges i found sattered around the shed.

Thanks guys, my mate is going to take the strut into a workshop tomorrow and they'll do it for me, then back on the car tomorrow night and off to the Creek!
