60nm or 44ft/lb which ever you are using
I changed a head gasket about 5 months ago and it started leaking oil big time last week.
The 1st time i use the torque method but this time with new bolts i torqued to 29nm then 90 & 90 again. I did this with a torque wrench as it measured 85nm which is a lot higher than the last gasket was done.
I never re torqued 1st time & maybe i should have. Gasket was an ACL mono torque the 1st time.
Ive searched a bit on on this as there seems to be a fair bit of conflicting info
60nm or 44ft/lb which ever you are using
or you can do 29 then 90/90
Yeah last time i did 60nm but this time i did the degree method which actually took 85nm to do.
Are most people doing a re torque?
Should i do it after 1st warm up or wait awhile?
dont retorque after 90/90 way.
Thanx for that.
I used hylomar this time so hopefully that helps it seal
I know its probably silly but how clean were the surfaces and how flat and true is the head ??
and as per Kingmick Monotorque shouldnt need to be retorqued.
Ben.
Head was milled & the block is in good condition & clean.
I'm not using ACL this time and this gasket has extra seals around the oil galleries.
I always re torqued gaskets on K motors but they were all running boost or very high comp. Its just not as simple with a fwd 4ag.
