What if you car is neither famous nor classic but 'modified' to a point that 'regular' insurers will not touch you with a 12 foot barge pole?
btw... 10% off my premium would be 2 tanks
suppose I'll have to give them a call then
I'm currently insured with famousclassic insurance, and I've noticed that they offer a 10% discount to car club members if the club registers with them... has Toymods considered this?
They specialise in both old stuff (aka river's car, and lots older), new stuff (like my supra - good premium price!), and also accept modified vehicles (perfect for us).
Since their rates are amongst the best I've seen, I thought it might be worthwhile us getting on board, depending on if they require anything of the club.
Just a thought. (plus I'm a tightarse - that 10% is a tank of fuel for the supra)

give em a call... their websites mentions they happily insure modifications, which is much better than 90% of other insurers.
I hope they still like me when I start throwing mods at my JZA80
I'm sure everyone knows this, but JustCar are decently priced. My rolla is quoted at $650 with them, but it isn't exactly modified. Never the less, jump onto their site and do a quote. If it cant give you one instantly, let it send it off for them to email you back - I got mine back in 10 mins.
If you call the $1600 a year I pay decentOriginally Posted by BenTM

Toobs advice... you'll find out that JustCars aren't really helpful to the "enthusiast" when you go to make a claim.
They just insure high risk vehicles... I consider them the GE finance of insurance companies.
Cheap insurance i use shannons! bloody cheap and exellent agreed values! you would want to be a little old are not be a crash or fine merchant, but cheap as chips!
unless your car is new, like mine, and they want DOUBLE the price of famous classic
1988 soarer 1ggte, $450 a year
again, I'll use my corolla as an example... I was quoted $2,100 with shannons...
hehehehehe ripped, even my 1988 100k on the clock patrol cost only $600 for agreed $13500.
lmao
payes to be older and in the country![]()
got to love 25 year rule for importing![]()
mick you pompous ass - it's about how new the cars are, not personal age/history.
When I called shannons, I asked the guy why the quote was so much. He said I'd answered all the questions well - of a reasonable age, flawless driving history, member of a car club, owned cars similar in the past (a supra enthusiast).
the simple fact that it was a 2000 model car with $35k agreed value was what made it so expensive for me ($2500)
edit: although after seeing blue stivo get quoted $2100 for a rolla, I don't feel quite as badly violated![]()
Hahahahah yes i know it goes up with cost of car, but age and record and were it is kept all add to the cost
sorry was just giving examples for people to go off
suppose you could always ring up for a fake quote and say you 36, no fines and somewere like tamworth etc and see how much they charge![]()
I'm 28 too Mick and in Wollongong, so not exactly a young'n or a city slicker either.
It's all about the newness of the car like Greg said. As soon as I told them what the car was they said it was going to be a high quote.
