All the 4a's i've seen idle funny if you remove the oil cap.
I've never seen one spurt oil out there though. I imagine it would do this if it was over-full with oil though.
i am trying to sell a car ita a ae92. someone just looked at it to buy it and opened the oil cap whilst it was running and it blew a load of oil over his face. hes comming back shortly and i need a answer of possible problems. blocked breather cause this?
cause it blew then he reckoned motor was rooted
possible solutions??? and causes?
edit, doesnt matter now as its sold.lol

AFM doesn't like the cap off - unmetered air causes the engine to idle poorly or stall. All the 4a's i've seen idle funny if you remove the oil cap.

its carbie. it ran ok but he had his head over the hole when he took it offfairly funny but a serious issue. have they got a breather that could be blocked to cause this pressuriasation?
sounds like the PCV valve is blocked or not working properly, it allows the crankcase to pressurise when not working properly. also you may have a slight amount of blow by, wich is compression gasses escaping passed the rings causing the crankcase to pressurise as well. if it does not blow or use oil lok at he PCV valve first.
Cheers
where abouts is the pcv valve located. i just had a quick look on the engine manual i have and cant find it in their.
cheers
That would be expected on a 4af* if you opened the oil cap while it's running. Look in there at what's below it... while it's not running of course! haha
I am the sun
as said it could be blocked PCV
take off the cap and put your hand over and make a good seal, if you feel a pressure building up that has enough force to hiss past your hand you have a problem with ventilation (PCV). If it's just oil spitting out that's pretty normal. even the cam/rocker arms can flick oil around. A solution for him would be to tell him to find an ae92 that doesn't! if the motor doesn't blow smoke and has reasonable power still there is no problem.
a lot of motors will throw oil out if you open the cap....theres oil travelling up there with a cam thats going round at 500 times per minute...isnt that enough to throw anything liquid out of a hole above it?
true, however its not my problem now cause he just bought it and took it away.
a very nice profit for 3 days work to me![]()
thanks every one
thanks to everyone for their input and help
