When they removed the window was there any rust around frame?
Also, do you have a sunroof? As sometimes water can come in there, run under the hoodlinging and then trickle down the rear 1/4 window.
Hey all,
I have recently noticed my rear quarter windows in my AE86 starting to leak on rainy days. I have recently got this repaired by going to a window store where they totally removed the glass resealed it and placed new clips that hold the window and trimmings of the AE86. Today I went for a drive (which is the rainy day since repair) and the window is still leaking. The water is slowly dripping down near where the passenger seatbelt coloum is. Does anyone know what could be going wrong here?
I was watching the fellows doing this repair and it seemed like there were doing a good job so I am stuned to see it was leaking again.
Thanks for the help in advance

Thanks for the reply TurboRA28,
No there was no rust what so ever around the window when they removed it. I dont have a sunroof either. I am not sure how the water is entering through my car. I have looked all around inside and outside the window and it is totally secured. Anymore ideas?
Thanks
Eddy
the hatch rubber at the top ok?
It aint the hatch.
But all the rubbers are all new bought from toyota.
Lol i read it as the passanger as rear lol!
there is either a pin leak in the rear quater window or its getting in threw the door seal. can only be those two things.
Door seal. Hmmm to be more descriptive the water is leaking like right at the corner of the rear quarter passenger window and flows down the passanger coloum. I dont think it is the door seal. I am looking at the car now and I have looked everywhere to find leaks. Nothing could be found. The car was only resealed a week ago as well.
why not take it back to the people who fixed it?
It is possible the water is getting in through the door gutter channel - pull the door gutter rubber off and see if you can spot any cracks or openings in the paint or panelling.
Take the interior trim off the B and C pillar and take a look inside - the water might appear to be seaping out between the steel panels. You may see traces of rust.
If it is indeed this, you can try to seal the gap in the door gutter, but some form of rust prevention wouldn't go astray, if you are keeping it.

Pull the inside trim off and have a look for stain tracks, if you cant find any hop inside and get someone to give the area that you recon it is coming from a hit with a hose.

Thanks for the replies.
I have been told that water can seep through the clip holes that hold the window and trimmings on. Ill have to have a look sometime.
I dont understand what you mean by door gutter channel. I dont even know what it is.
Over the weekend Ill take the interior trim off and have a look to see what is actually going on. Its starting to get frustrating. It only occurs on one side of the car and not the other. Maybe it isnt actually a sealing problem?![]()
You've seen it & know exactly where it's leaking, and these guys haven't!!! Hence the WAGswater is leaking like right at the corner of the rear quarter passenger window and flows down the passanger coloum.
Yes, the screws are a possibility.
Probably a kink in the weather strip stuff when it when it was bent/bunched up to turn the corner of the window.
The installers oughta fix it quick & free!
It lines the upper half of the door jamb, runs from bottom of A pillar up, across door arch, and down the B pillar. There is a rubber seal that runs along this. Pull this rubber off and check under it on the top of the B pillar close to the rear quarter glass.Originally Posted by Umbrella
