Cool Re: Modifying Camry Engine 1MZ-FE

Not gunna happen. Yahoo mail is being gay & won't let me attach files on any computer I sit at.
You'll have to get on some kind of chat software, or wait afew days, mabe the end of the week for server upgrades & I'll upload them. (So much trouble for 300kb worth of incomplete pdf's lol!)

Toysrme...Thank you your response, which is nearly as long as some of my Uni essays . Very informative though. Apart from the N2O, I'll look into all of your recommended options.
Do you have any view on the piggy back ECU?

    Yeah.
I don't know what all is on the Australian market, but I can run down North America fairly fast for you.
SAFC's suck. Have poor tuning abilities, tuning resolution & don't do much for the money.
    From that point:
    SMT7 > Emanage-ultimate
SMT6 > Emanage gold, or blue
Split Second FTC-1 (Not many features & no live tuning)
    Unichips
I personally don't like FTC-1's (No live tuning & price create headaches), and feel that unichips are a extremely large wastes of money. They only work "as well" as the non-bleeding edge piggybacks, are 3x more expencive, and what happens when you want to play? You're SOL.
E-manages are an old standby. Easily the most popular worldwide. The feature sets are comparible to SMT's. The differance being SMT's are complete out of the box & don't require "upgrades", and generally are priced lower than baseline equivilant e-manage's.

IDK of anyone that is running an SMT6 on a 1mz. I know of one person that's run an e-manage on a 1mz (Tony Leung on his original turbo setup), and it proved problematic to picup his crankshaft position sensor. There ARE afew solara owners here running emanges.
If U wanna buy my smt6. I've been trying to sell the thing for 2 months. LoL! Shameless plug.

Toysrme - Have you got more of those Tech doccos?

it would be handy to set up a data base of some of that info, such as for comparing engine weights, power, torque ratios etc of similar engines.

+rep to you for the other info though, great stuff

Going to dig up an old thread.

With the weight penalty of my car over a GT4, I'm thinking about replacing the Gen IV 3S-GTE with a 1MZ.
I'm also contemplating running it solely on LPG & also maybe having a smallish turbo running off the front bank only.
This would simplify the piping (especially as the intake already runs that way) & I'm not chasing big HP, just a bit of torque for accleration & towing (especially).

I suppose I could have bought a local boring product from GM or Ford, but would have been just, well, boring

Sorry to dredge up the past but I'd hate to repeat a thread

Does anyone know if there is a difference between the ES300 1MZ and the Avalon 1MZ? The reason I ask is the usual sites say that the ES300 has 158kw and is VVTi where as the Avalon is 145kw and no mention of VVTi. Externally (at a glance) they look identical. Is it simply the tune that gets the extra 13kw or is it the use of premium over regular?

    Thanks for any help

    Nick
