    Exclamation SV21 Camry 3S-FE

    Hey guys, i was wondering if its possible to use standard 3S-GE in an sv21 camry. the motor (3S-FE) is blown, and i was wondering if it would be a straight swap? thanks

    The engine itself will bolt in. The mounts are the same. However, the wiring is completely different...and so are some other little things. Mechanically, its an easy swap, electrically, its not so easy. If you feel up to swapping/splicing a loom and changing over the ECU and whatnot, then it will work no probs.

    Oh ok, i just figured i could get a celica motor n throw it in..... damn, coz im hunting a 3S-FE and cant find 1, the previous owner has put a hole in the block, its got a new clutch n all, so its all sweet apart from the motor, and i can get it for 200, its pretty straight too! Know of any PRIVATE 3S-FE's being sold?

    Hehe no unfortunately, but id imagine that any reputable wrecker/engine importer would be able to get one for a good price. The replacement engine however, may end up costing you just as much as the car!

    really shouldn't be a major job, Looking at both wiring diagrams for the 3sfe and 3sge there's not a great deal of difference.

    It would be a matter of running your body loom wires to the new engine for basic functions (starter motor, ignition, fuel pump, circuit openeing relay and a few more for dash functions etc. Not hard when you have the diagrams and can work out what you need.
