You took my answer out of context. I was explaining why an old coils can´t be pluged in either way. Your answer is ONLY right for a wasted spark coils pack.

Have you seen an old coil? like those from cars with contact points? Those have one terminal from the secondary connected to one from the primary.

    Here you can see:

I have been messing with kettering ignition systems for a while now , would like to see a pic of what you are talking about.

Secondary winding on all systems that I have seen have I teminal being distributor high tension lead and other earth through mount/body.

    regards

Thanks to norbie i gained this diagram.
Had trouble getting it started, had the opolarity of cam sensor wrong.
Have driven it around block couple of times, it misfires as soon as a little load is applied on motor, have replaced plugs and checked timing. It isn't charging and only has about 11 volts while running so am presuming this is causing it. Will try to fix tomorrow.
Cheers for the input and coil lesson.

As pointed out by Mos, my earlier suggestion that the black-orange wire is a negative is, obviously, incorrect. I saw the B-O wire connected to ground but somehow didn't spot the capacitor (noise filter) it was going through - see bottom-right of diagram above.

The black-orange wire is positive. My bad - sorry.

Well if thats the case i have wired all coils backwards, this would cause low spark and misfire then! crapo!!

That would be the black and orange then.

On a 1j it is black with yellow.

Sorry if I created extra work for you. In future I'll let Mos answer all electrical related questions.
