    Default MA61 wheels

I've just swapped my standard steel wheels over for a set of MA61 alloys on the ra40. I weighed them just to see the difference between the old and the new. The Supra alloys with brand new tyres on them weighed 15 kg and the old steelies with tyres near the legal limit weighed 17kg, so I reckon that theres a good weight saving there. The Supra alloys are also 7 inchs wide as well so thats another plus.

    Hi,

Are you sure 7inches is wide enough for the power of the mighty 18R-C?

Yeah its just about able to contain it, my plan is to improve handling , brakes, diff and then drop in a bigger motor. I've seen too many people do things the other way around.

    Hi,

Good lad. It's refreshing to see someone fix the handling of their car and make it ready for the extra pwer rther than the oppisite (ie wrong) way around.

Do some pics and keep us posted of your progress.

    Well so far I've done:

    Tokico rear shocks,
    Monroe GT front shocks,
(I'll get a matching set soon though)
Whiteline front sway bar 24 mm non adjustable,
    Whiteline rear sway bar,
    Noltec bushes all round
    whiteline adjustable Panhard rod.
Techno Toy Tuning 35 mm Rca's
    King Springs progressives all round.
    Ma61 wheels.
    Central locking,
    Alarm
    Alternator from unknown Ford
    ma70 seats.

If I can come across a good efi 18rg then i'll keep the t series diff and with a set of rt142 brakes and rt132 front strutts combined with a decent lsd. The engine I would like to have in there is the v6 from the late model Camry so that would need a different set up.

A lot of people dont think of tuning their car as a paskage, They think that you just drop in a grunty motor and put your foot to the floor, INSTANT TRAFFIC LIGHT HERO,.
On a track they would be laughing all the way to the tyre wall.

These are the same people who ask the sort of questions like
    1. How much should I cut my springs by?
    2. I want to start drifting my car, which is better an engine or a more powerfull engine?
    3. I dont know wether to spend my money on a big tacho with a shift light or a much needed set of brake pads and an oil change?

And so on, and so on.

They are a heavier but Ive taken out teh air compressor, they are far superior to the ra 40 ones though. I was previously sitting on the seat rails nearly. Ma70, ma61 seats will fit in a 40 without too much trouble but sit a little high for tall people. For the vertically challenged their probley tip top.

I used 195/65r14's they fit pretty good. They sit nicely on the rims. I reckon that 205/60r14 would be a good fit for the back tyres but theres a huge price jump between them and the 195's. I'm pretty happy with them, their poor mans superlites.

I have 235s under the rears of my rt142 wagon, they rub when there's 12 wheels, a full exhaust, two struts and a set of hubcaps in the back.

I had the option of 245s, but i was too lazy to roll the lips.
I got 225s in the front

ma61 wheels make all oldschool toyotas 2000% tougher

    Ohhh Yeah!!!
