weight isnt going to be the biggest issue clutch grip is going to be the issue, that said i dont know the boxes and if you can fit the 212mm fly into the t50? box...
Hi Everyone!
Does anyone know the main difference in using an 86kw (200mm) flywheel compared to the 100kw (212mm) flywheel for a standard supercharger 4AGZE MAP sensored engine setup into an AE86?
Would the weight of the flywheel have a major impact on performance?
What are the weights of the 86kw and 100kw flywheels?
Thanks in advance =)

yeah i was told that the 212mm flywheel fits in the ADM T50 gearbox...
then that woiuld be your pick. you will find that with more power and lower diamater then clutch slip can become a problem. thats why the GZE uses the 225mm clutch in the E51/E52/E58 boxes
You shouldn't have any problems with a decent clutch using the 212mm flywheel on a ZE. I was using the 200mm flywheel on my 4AGTE, and only had occasional problems with slip when running 24 pounds of boost with 180rwkW.
you will however have to go for a decent clutch.. that shouldnt be an issue just something to be aware of![]()
i'll be getting a heavy duty clutch so should be alright...
so weight of flywheel doesn't matter? 7.5kg as opposed to 3.7? more responsive?
will a 200mm flywheel compliment a 212mm clutch/clutch plate?

Use a Ferdanza (or Fidanza or whatever it is forgot) ultra light weight flywheel ... the lightest it goes was 9pound I think (4.5kg approx) mine I used a 11pound so thats (5.5kg approx) and it does really effect the performance of the car ... but you got to be prepare to roll down the hill on 2nd and 3rd gear hahaha![]()
Yep, I have a SC14'd ZE, when running 18psi the stock 225mm clutch was toast! You shouldn't have any problems with a decent clutch using the 212mm flywheel on a ZE. I was using the 200mm flywheel on my 4AGTE, and only had occasional problems with slip when running 24 pounds of boost with 180rwkW.
But now (not intentional) my uprated clutch from NPC uses a custom (billet) 212mm flywheel, HD TRD pressure plate, and the disc is cushioned ceramic and basically it drives like a normal car, clutch just a fraction grabbier. Highly recommeneded for fantastic drivability!
And so much grip, even with the RWD AW11 its easy to initiate tractions problems without being brutal at all! Now I just need more power to justify the overkill clutch!
Cheers, Nick
