I think it would be a great Idea to use this template for the for sale threads, as a lot of them are very crap to read.

Subject Title: FS [specify item/items]

For sale: list items
Item Condition: describe in detail, be accurate and honest
Price and price conditions: self explanatory, if you are or are not willing to separate, you must specify
Extra Info: any other details you wish to mention
Pictures: if you cannot get pictures, please state to avoid people asking for it
Contact Details: PM, phone, email etc
Location: absolute must
Delivery & Conditions of Delivery: eg pickup only, courier interstate, no COD etc


What do you reckon. Threads that dont use this template should be locked or deleted.

Templates are planned.
I think they are having a bit of trouble integrating one with VBForums.

well just a sticky at the top, with the above template pasted in to copy from would avoid any VBF issues.

It needs to be an auto template that you jsut fill in when you start a new thread.

While it seems like a good idea, in practice it takes a lot of effort to enforce.
I'm on another forum were they've been trying this for a couple of years now & 95% of the threads don't conform.

If we could do an auto template, then yes we will probably implement, but unitl then no.
And basically, if someone's post is too hard to read, then they'll have difficulty in selling.
Either, because no one will contact them, or they'll get sick of mundane repetitve questions & do something about it.

on ns.com they enforce this template...if you dont use it your post gets deleted and you get a PM saying "use the fucking template"

it takes a little while to get it through forum users thick skulls but it works...and its neat...and you dont need an auto bit either...just sticky it at the top of the forum

Threads that dont copy and paste the template from the sticky get locked immediately. Im speaking from experience.

People will soon get the message, and it makes for so much better advertisments and avoids people constantly asking ghey questions like 'where are you located' and 'got any pics' etc over and over

get the mods to send a 'mass' PM to everyone explaining the new rules. who seriously leaves a PM unread?? ....no-one, so there will be no excuse to not have read the rules.

Interesting ideas. With some initial heavy moderation it could work, and you have the Dravster putting up his hand. Good to see some members willing to put in the extra effort to keep the forums clean and consistent.

It's like the 5-line-limit of sigs. Everyone knows the limit and most people abide by it. Those that don't are usually informed by other members and the sig is fixed or they start losing rep. I think the same internal moderation by forum members will ensure the template is used.

I know I'm not alone in being more than ready to bitch-slap an offender's rep.
