    Question 2JZ Query?

Finally got some free time to play with my front cut. Started pulling excess shite off that will be tossed and getting engine ready to be removed from shell and find this when I removed the ecu

Not being up to date with all things jap, is this a good or bad sign? Obviously its been toyed with but is it any major concern regarding reliability and so forth? And will it be as simple as hooking it up ala a standard ecu? Or is it time for a song and dance at the place of purchase?

on soarercentral, they go on about mines ecu as being great to just plug in and go.
Depending on what the mines ecu has, the basic things are usually speed delimiting and some boost playing i think (if you want me to hunt down the thread i will), it is usually a direct replacement for the standard ecu and is known as a good thing.

Unfortunately though, every Mines-fiddled ECU I've come across has made the car run ridiculously rich. Apparently your car won't make good power until it's belching black smoke, all the time.

I've got a MINES ecu on my MR2, it has about 20lb of torque more than the standard ecu and the following.

Speed cut defender (well lets just say it goes off the clock in the middle of 4th, clock goes to 180, and she just keeps goin)
9K rpm rev limiter (about 7k standard)
22psi boost cut (varies from mr2 to mr2, about 11-12psi)

This is for an sw20 mr2 turbo, dunno what they'd do on a 2jz.

AFAIK most people use these with a fuel ecu like a safc as they do run excessively rich.

As triptek said they are basically used to increase rev limit, boost cut and get rid of speed cut. Some sort of fuel fiddling will need to be done to bring it back to a decent AFR.
