    Default ffs jza70 heat problems F**K

    I have had absolutely enough of the jza getting hot, it use to be just goin up hills, now it happens just driving..must be a pretty hot day tho.. the car overheats going up a hill...i had the radiator flushed and cleaned. radiator is is fine working order...was ganna get another one. it is running the fan that runs of trans fluid...the hydraulic fan, it is the biggest piece of crap. the fan doesnt speed up when the car get hotter..i am seriously at my wits end with this problem..i have been to 3 radiator places and they have no bloody idea watsover..they dont know how this thing works or how to fix it.. and my mechanic who actually knows a thing or 2 isnt free until a while as he has gone overseas, i have had enough, the fan is set to idle i believe, i have been told of a fan control unit that sits near the ecu that tells it to speed up etc...i have had enough if someone knows how this fan works can u plz explain it.. any details can be provided..

    it is a conversion from a ga70 to jza and doesnt have the sensor at the bottom of the radiator and is all stock.. thanks sorry for the long post but i had to vent a little cause i am seriously about to snap

    It sounds like you haven't installed all the wiring for the Hyraulic fan.

    The hydraulic fan is completely independent of the ECU, and runs on its own sensor ( the one in the radiator).

    So I'd either fix the system, so it works properly, or piss it off, and replace it with a normal clutch fan, or a pair of AU thermo's.




    FWIW the Hydraulic fan is a brilliant system when it works perfectly, but I have no doubts its fucking useless when it doesnt.

    ahh ok i didnt do the conversion so i am unsure if it does or doesnt have the ecu fan control...i have taken half the dash apart and am unable to find it. where would it be it is spose to be near the ecu correct ? if it isnt is it possible that it might b somewhere else. i have heard without the sensor it would be set to fast constantly yes ?? if this is true i am able to buy one all i need to know is where hell it plugs into ..i know somewhere into the loom anyone know where tho ?

    without the sensor it is set to slow all the time... my ma61 had this problem prior to pissing off the hydro fan

    Toyota normally do do fail safe things, ie, yes, it should be set to fast if the sensor isn't there. But without the fan controller, I'm not sure what happens.

    I've got one from a UZZ30 Soarer, and it was located around the ecu, but the UZZ30 soarer has about 6 ECU's in the general area.

    Its about the size of a cigarette packet, so its hard to miss.


    Thats where my knowledge runs out I'm afraid.



    BUT, if you are overheating just driving at speeds of 60+ (and not flogging it), then you have other issues.
    Whether it be a poor waterpump, or low coolant/air bubble I don't know.

    draven do u know where the unit plugs.in....what should i do fuck it all off and setup a au system..what is needed the 2jz gte ? pump and pulley ?

    hey chris so now constantly eek not good me love,

    grab a multi meter, and on your radiator there is a plug near your drain-o plug, turn the can on and place the multi meter inti the plug and see if you are getting a pulse or a current, in not you may have either of the following, "shorted or cut wire, blown fuse, no proper connections"

    hope this helps find a solution.

    yah i dont think it is using a jza 70 radiator...so that isnt even there i believe

    well i need a jza70 radiator then ?? and the sensor which plugs into where and how much is a jza radiator am i better of converting to electric fans

    what so i need a 2j water pump and pulley and thats all and then go with the au thermo fans yea ? and run it of it own sensor ?

    Not having a fan should only make the car overheat when it's sitting still. If you go for a continuous drive at constant speed along a main road/highway, does it still get hot? If so, then you've probably got another problem e.g. crook pump, thermostat, etc.

    With the electric/hydraulic fan thing, the hydraulic fan is quite good if it all works properly. I've never actually played with the complete setup on a car, but what happens if you just apply battery voltage to the valve on the side of the pump? Does this make the fan run flat out? If that WERE the case, then you could probably just wire it up with a normal fan switch and achieve cooling with minimal effort. It's only an idea though... Anyone confirm?

    ahh thats wat i was ganna ask is there any way to bypass the system and make ur own switch/sensor...msn is stuffed at the moment i dont know why given me the shits tho
