    Default 1984 2wd hilux - sump location?

Hey all, i have a 1984 hilux being delivered to me in october by a kind uncle of mine....it has an 18r motor thats pretty well dead im led to believe? Does anyone know what sump configuration these have? If i went a 1uzfe conversion, what sump configuration would i need to purchase?

other engine option I noticed is the Nissan vq45de is a good looking motor....340hp stock from 4.5L and a front sump :? sure does put the 1uz on the spot....

Im finding all sorts of info on 4wd hilux conversions using 1uz's but not many to none about 2wd's. Anyone got any good sites on 2wd info? If not, are there any headaches (always have to be some!) i am going to enounter doing a 1uz swap?

    thanks guys
    blake

doesnt matter.... hiluxs can just about have any engine, but yes the hilux accepts 1uzfe theres heaps of them done same with 2j's etc

the mounts are on the chassis not the crossmember so thats why it doesnt matter, you can just modify the x member to miss the sump

ahh i see...so some of the 4x4 stuff is actually relevant yeah i looked at 7m and 2j, but id rather the extra pull those 2 extra cylinders give

edit: how about height of the motors? are the hilux's pretty forgiving?

i know the 1uz fits have a look on minitruck forums , plenty of rightups and pics.... the 2j will pull alot harder than the 1uz unless u do something to the 1uz

are you actually being serious or taking the piss? you think a 2jzge will pull better than a 1uzfe?

i know the 1uz will fit.... id say the 2j would be a taller engine.. but it fits too, have a bit of a look on the net plenty of examples..

Hiluxes from 79 to 83 (like mine) have rear sump. 84 is most likely the same, but i am not 100%.

ive got a 84 2wd with a 1j in it.. the 1uz is an easier fit in that shape because of the length.

ive got a thread somewhere about it..
