Thumbs up Moderators - Feedback needed

    Hi Guys

We are in a privilleged situation with the new forum where we can mould behaviour from the beginning in order to get the forum back to being the useful technical resource that we all signed up to use. In order to do this we're going to need to moderate effectively. At the moment there are a couple of board members who do the majority of the moderating and as you can see from the old forum at the moment it's not enough, especially while I've been busy with this one.

Things I'd like from you are suggestions for who you think would do a good job moderating in:
    • Tech and Conversions
    • General car talk

What I'd like you to think about in making suggestions are:
    1. Does the person have the kind of level of technical knowledge that would make you take what they say seriously
    2. Do you think the person would use the authority responsably
    3. Does the person currently contribute in a productive way to these area's of the forum

It would also be prefferable for all moderators to be Toymods Car Club members.

Norbie - aka Jeremy Kime, ex-member no.205. TECH & CONVERSIONS
We all know the man, and (most) respect what he has to say. He spends a decent amount of time on the forums and generally spends most of that time in the Tech&conversion section. Not the sort of person who's ever really gone off at people, nor crossed the line of the basic forum rules that i can remember.
I wouldnt say he knows HEAPS, but his general level of knowledge is high enough that he knows when he's right and shuts up when he doesnt know. Also is usually the first person to bring a stupid tech thread back down to ground.
I'm sure he'd be willing to become a financial member again....

    oldcorollas - aka Stewart Ford
    repeat the above.
Add a high degree of specialised knowledge with engine principles and metallurgy.
Add a higher degree of recognition of stupid topics and the ability to "shut them down" quickly and quietly. If only he could've locked sooo many threads after he's posted in them......

Thats all i can think of right now...
    ...... butt scratcher?!

I'll second Karl on those 2. I hold great respect for both posting in any of my Threads.

Also Ed_MA61 has the same drive to have an organised tech setout. would like to see him moderating again in these forums if possible.

Agree with Witzl.. Norbs and Stew always seem to have worthwhile contributions.
I'd love to help out and i spend alot of time on Toymods but i dont think my tech knowledge would be up to scratch.
Most of my knowledge is based on 4ages

Obvious stuff like commercial selling in the "for sale" sections could be identified pretty easily though...
On that note, i haven't noticed a "report thread to a moderator" button like we had in the old Toymods.
Will it be added or is there some other way of doing it?

    Eddie.

EDIT: nm, just read Toobs post about it and found it in the top right corner

I agree with Norbie and Stewart.

We need at least one moderator who reads the Corolla-related tech threads as well just so that we can get a coverage of as many different posts as possible.

Going off topic a bit.... A good moderator for the For Sale sections is Clint (CLG). He's always reporting stuff in the For Sale sections. He could do well as a moderator in other sections to.

I've noticed "Takai" from the old forums has a pretty good handle on techs in relation to corollas. I'm not sure if he's a financial member being down in adelaide and all.

If i remember correctly, he was the one that put together the faq about the spoonter steering and stuff.

    Yeah. Takai seems knowledgable.
    He seems very genuine too.
He's one of the few people who've bothered to meet me down here in Canberra.

Takai is a pretty good bloke, i've talked with him a few times before and he's always reading more than posting.

I've talked to Norbie and (after OKing it with Rod) have actually given him the URL to these new forums for him to check out.
