    Default PCB board ground question

On a PCB board, the lighter green area of the board on the top, is this used to ground components?

Certain components are isolated from it, while other areas have little joiners to it?

I hope this made some sense......

Depends! Is it double sided? Is it really a copper/brass plane or is it just the silk screening?
If it is a copper/brass plane, it doesnt have to be a negitive! Could be positive!

PCB (printed circuit board) Board = tautology

The green stuff is an anti-corrosion coating, and it's non-conductive (electrically). The lighter green colour is probably a bus, ie a large track on the board. These are often a common point, so they can be a ground, a +vin or anything else that is common to several components. So in short... There are no gaurantees it is a ground, although with some closer inspections you can figure it out by the polarities of connected components, the pins of IC's connected to it etc.

hope that helped, but I fear not

    Thanks guys.

Searched one of the semiconducter serial numbers and found a pinout.

The light green was indeed a bus for the ground circuit.
