Default accidently toped up power steering with brake fluid?

accidently toped up power steering with brake fluid, then i noticed what i was doing and i filled the rest up with power sterring fluid

as a guess id say its 2/3rd power steering fluid and 1/3rd brake fluid.

is anything bad going to happen to my car now

if so what should i do?

It is not going to be real good on your power steering if you use it much as brake fluid will have no lubricating ability.

Have you run it, if not should still only be in the resivour.

I would be draining it out and changing it as soon as possible.

well originaly my power steering fluid was low. it made bad noises. so i topped it, but topped it up with the wrong one. then i put power steering fluid in.

i took it up the block and back (maybe 150m) and it felt better than before, but probably cos before there was shit all in there.

draining it will be pretty hard as its in the worst fcken spot and there is no plug or anything to drain it from. any suggestions are most appreciated.

If you are worried disconect the low presssure return line on the resevoir and crank your engine over until most of the fluid has pumped out (preferably ino a container) reconret the hose, refill with atf or what is the right stuff then turn the wheel in both direction with the engine running to bleed the system, recheck at top up if needed.

ok, so im lazy and i tried getting the lead from the resiovour off to bleed it but i couldn't. so i got a squirty bottle nozzle thing and pumped it out. thing is, there is a little grate at the bottom and i fear there is still some more which i cant get to undernieth that.

    my new question:
under the grate in the resiovour for the power steering fluid, is that the at the very bottom of the resiovour or is there some fluid kept undernieth that?

also, if there is fluid undernieth there, now that ive pumped the majority of the stuff out, filled it completely up with power steering fluid this time. should i worry about the small percentage of brake fluid that could still be in the system??

im thinking i should drive it for a day or two. once its all mixed up again, pump it all out, and refill it once more. hopefully by then the brake fluid will be so dilute it wont matter??

any suggestions or thoughts or answers??

no it shouldnt be mega serious since, you have drained most of it from the resovoir, just flush it through the system

I'd be flushing the power steering system ASAP.

    How to do:
    1. Go buy a new 5ltr bottle of ATF (Power steering fluid) and a bit of power steering hose.
    2. Remove the power steering hose that goes from the power steering cooler to the reservoir down at the cooler.
    3. Attach the new short piece of power steering hose to the cooler where you pulled the other hose off.
    4. Shove the new short piece of hose in a bucket on the ground.
    5. Shove the old disconnected hose into the new bottle of ATF with the bottle sitting on your radiator support. (so that it's at roughly the height of your reservoir)
    6. Get a mate to start your car and the pump should pull the new fluid through the system... stop the car before the fluid in the ATF bottle is finished.
    7. Swap the hoses and bottle / bucket around.
    8. repeat step 6 & 7 a couple of times.
    9. ...
    10. Profit!
