ffs jza70 heat problems F**K

there is an ecu called something fan i have one lying around somewhere

then u need a brown 2 pin plug sensor that goes in bottom of radiator

the ecu is wired to the temp sensor
power
\earth
the hydraulic solenoid
tacho
a/c signal

without this ecu the fan will only work at 30 to 40 %

i did a 1j recently and it got warm then i fitted the ecu and it the fan flies now

u can easily feel the fan speed increase

im not sure which position the fan solenoid sits

but with no wires to the solenoid it must sit half way or shut and im guessing shut is not 100% shut incase the solenoid seizes shut there is abit of oil flow so fan turns abit atleast

u could try just running power and earth to the solenoid

im not surre what this will do so if anyhting bad happens its yr fault hehe

but small stuff like this i always collect cause 90% of people who do these conversions have no fukin idea even some of the people who think they know actually dont

another thing is try to run the hydraulic fan setup it will shit on most elect thermo fan setup

on a chaser front cut the ecu is drivers side next to the cruise/speed control ecu

hey thanks for all ur help am ganna have a look see tomoz as it is to dark now and post again but yea i dont think i have the unit to control the speed of the fan is that possible and i have a cremey brown plug near my pod that is 2 pin and looks like it should be plugged into something ?? u said u have one lying around wanna sell it or... ??

The fan control computer on a jza70 is located left to the glovebox, if you take the glovebox out of a jza70 and feel to the left area there you'll find it.

the hydraulic fans in these things are WILD, they suck through more air when in high power mode then you're going to get out of thermos. id say either find a sensor/ecu and get it working or work out how to set it flat out all the time and have a switch inside the car. Ive considering ripping mine out just cos its a pain in the ass to get in an out when working on the car but yeah i was advised against it due to the wild CFM. Ive down track days in 40deg heat running a bar canning the shit out of it and never even moved above halfway on temp gauge (digital temp gauge) so i would say hyrdaulic fan is suffice

these things do have iussues with the waterpump shitting its guts at anywhere from 60,000 to 100,000kms.. if yours hasnt been done id look into it.

AND USE TOYOTA RED COOLANT, ITS THE BOMB !

Hydraulic fan > thermos. It's really not that much effort to get it working - even if you don't have a jza70 radiator you could make a fitting up to attach to the bottom radiator hose and plug the temp sender into that. Not that I am into drift, but apparent most of the drift jza70s use the hydraulic fan because it shits on everything else for cooling capacity.

I had a cressida radiator fitted after my jza70 one bit the dust (plastic top tank cracked) and whilst I initially didn't plug the fan ecu (long story, big posts on old forums) in once I figured out what was wrong (with some help from others) the fan seemed to be going at top speed even without the temp sender. . Without the ECU it was slow all the time. Never had an overheating problem once the fan control ecu was in (even though it wasn't getting signal from the temp sender)

And I've blown the water pump (big mess, PITA to fix) as well - it's a relatively common fault.
