cheers man, well ive been pretty lazy with updating it on this forum as im more frequent over on the aus supra forums, but the progress is coming to a rapid close. car goes in to have the cooler mounted and all plumbing made up tomorrow along with the dump pipe and modifications to the wastegate pipe on the manifold.
i think less than 2 weeks, it should be running

yeah this is just a test fit, im most probably going to get some protective heat wrapping to go around the hose where it comes into contact with the manifold.

+1 rep, Great thread, great work.
She is definatly looking good. Looks like there isnt going to be much clearance turbo to hood. any idea how it is? I am hoping to do the same in the not too distant future too and have been looking at the same manifold on ebay.

cheers for the update MR 1JZ. why didnt you tell me this last night?
im expecting the car back in my driveway any time soon now so when it is ill post up some new pics. once i have it back i just need to fit an oil return line, check over a few little things and do a quick service then it should be time to start it up!
thanks mateOriginally Posted by Shadow6
the clearance turbo to hood is actually really good with this manifold. i run a strut tower brace as well and the turbo sits a good 30mm below that. so thats certainly not an issue. although i should note that i rotated the outlet of the turbo around so its facing downwards rather than facing the rocker cover like it is in those pictures.

Good stuff mate.
Is this the manifold you are using?

Any other cheap T3 1jz manifolds people know of?
Can you give some details on the specifics of the oil feed and return.
what flanges do they use? what fittings? any oil restrictor? if so, what size?
Thanks
cheers mate.
my manifold is a little different to that one. it doesnt have those little tabs on the runners and the wastegate pipe is on a slightly different angle. i bought it new off a guy on supraforums but it originally came from ebay and from what i've seen it looks like a MONSTA performance product. not sure how its going to hold up, i would have liked a little bit of bracing but the turbo im using isnt exactly HUGE so im hoping it doesnt crack or sag.
for the oil feed i used a braded hose with banjo and speedflow fittings on each end (one banjo on the turbo and one banjo on the engine block). the oil return line im still sorting but at the moment i have sourced a retun piece from a Nissan VG30 turbo (because it bolts right up to my turbo) - this piece has a 19mm ID, however the return piece on the engine is an odd size (~21mm ID) so it has made finding an oil hose difficult as most places dont stock that size. yesterday i went out and grabbed some oil hose thats rated to 100 degrees celsius but the ID is 19mm. its going to be difficult to stretch over the top of that 21mm fitting on the block but with a bit of lubricant hopefully it all goes to plan - thats for tonight.
here's a pic of the bits and pieces for the oil feed
the dump pipe is being made tonight along with an oil/coolant change and then its time to start it hopefully.
