    Default Suspension for JZS147 Aristo

    Greetings,

I am currently on the prowl for a set of coilovers for my Aristo I read breifly on yahoo auctions that JZA80 Supra and JZZ30 suspension is identical, can anyone confirm this?

Becuase if its true then it makes my coilover quest a little easier to conquer.

    Cheers

    Matt

P.S. I figure some people here might have got suspension from aristo front cuts...would they know if they are the same?

    cheers again

All I can tell you is the front suspension on my Aristo front cut was weird and I couldn't understand it. I've never seen JZA80 suspension up close so I can't tell you how they compare, but I was under the impression they had a conventional double wishbone setup? The Aristo certainly didn't!

The rear suspension is the same as the Soarer and the Supra but the front is quite different

Thats suspension and jzs147. Sorry i can't do more right now but i'm at work and bablefish is being a bastard. Looks like there's a few things around over there, if you have a dig you might be able to find some parts that fit a couple of models and work out what your car is the same as?

    thanks GT

I actually did that search last night, when I heard they might be the same I got a bit happy because coilovers for JZA80's and JZZ30's are in a lot more of an abundance already in the country than JZS147 ones are

Mr 1JZ, mate the Aristo IS a Crown with a slightly different body, Try searchng Yahoo Japan for Crown drifting bits, ha ha . But yep knowing it is a Crown, may help you find something.

    cheers Chuck.

also yahoo auctions have listings via model numbers like JZS147...so searching for crown wont make much difference unfortunaely...I wonder if their suspension is the same as a JZS161 or UZS131?

I have not owned an Aristo but I have owned a Majesta front cut and the Aristo and Soarer rear suspensions I have seen are the same. The three fingered drive yoke on the Aristo diff is a different size to the Soarer ones and apart from that is interchangable although the ratios differ. The Majesta came with an electric pump and accumulater on the brake booster and has the same part number as the Aristo so that may interest you.The abs is totally different though.

The aristo is double wishbone front and yes the shock does go thru the top wishbone.

The (*A70) supra top wishbone is at rim(ish) height and pivots on the upper section of the cross member (inference that JZA80 is similar).
The Aristo (and IS200 and probably many others) top wishbone is above the tyre height and pivots inside the strut tower.

Aristo (and IS200) strut top sits in the strut tower top (well duh) and strut bottom attaches to the bottom control arm. The 4WD versions have a fork at the bottom to clear the drive shaft but otherwise the principle is the same.

I have not tried interchanging any of them (yet) but I wouldn't expect too many problems, disregarding things like brake line mounts, abs cable mounts, strut top pattern, etc.

I can take a photo of the JZS147 tems shock if you want to compare to what's out there, but I wouldn't expect there to be many differences. I'll compare it to the IS200 struts once they arrive.

BTW, for interest Audis have two steering pivots at both top and bottom to achieve a virtual turning centre, similar to what the toyota super strut did (Would hate to see what happens with alignment once the balljoints start showing wear...)

Chuck - doesn't the Crown have a frame with body on top? Aristo is a monocoque design, isn't it?
