18RG is just a different head on an 18R, so yes.
3T requires a T crossmember, possibly from a TA23, and needs the efi wired up
1G-GTE shits on all, excuse my french.
1. Does the 18RG slot straight into a 28?

The 18R(G) and 3TGTE have different sumps so you need a different engine crossmember.
The TA23 engine crossmember (kinda rare) bolts into the RA28, (same front end) has the right shape/curve for the 3T sump and the 'right' engine mounts for the 3TGTE.

getting the motor to fit isint as hard as everyone thinks.
youll have to wire it up but youll have to do that with just about anything thats a bit more modern.
for my 1jz to ra23 conversion i used standard crossmember, standard steering box, radiator in standard location ( three core though ) and with a bit of jiggery pokerey a 1jz with a w5* box fits very nicely. more power than you can shake a stick at too.....

What about the gearbox and diff?Originally Posted by ace

Dude theres already so much info on all of these conversions! Just do a search in this forum, and the old forums! Easy as piss....
The ra28 came stock with an 18rc and a w50 gearbox. If your going to a 18rg then keep your box. It will hold up. If not, get a good cond w50 or look for a w55... The only mods for this will be fuel lines, and throttle lines, radiator. I dont think theres any others...
For a 3tgte, your going to want a ta22 xmember, or if you can get a front sump 3t then go the ta23 xmember. Mods will probably be the gbox, w55 if not w57 or 58... Then fuel pump, Master cylinder for better stopping, and better brakes. There will be alot of little things...
If your going 1g then the list goes on, incl diff, brakes, mounts, steering stuff fowling turbos etc etc etc... But once again its all been documented before...
Have a look around, its really not difficult at all...
Jase...

im still waiting on my 15 page document on how to fit a 1JZGTE with W5* into TA/RA23
no need for documentation on brake and diff upgrade as there is plenty here already
but everything else would be a treat

The W55, W57, W58 etc all fit in the Celica but you gotta find the right bellhousing to match them up, there are Toyota options though. Tha Transmission crossmember off a automatic TA22 is supposed to be a good fit for the W series boxes...
Leave the stock diff, it'll be fine for a while.
I swear all of this info is on the forums already!!!
