yup - tho if you have a mate with a welder, you could do them to do it for peanuts+beer. You should do the drilling regardless.
Hey all,
I have the rear mount engine brackets. So from what I have read. I need to take these in to a shop and get the holes welded up and re-drilled to fit the front mounting holes. And the alignment barrel hole on the other side of each bracket welded up and re-drilled also. Is this correct? I've tried finding some front mount brackets but cant seem to find them anywhere.
Cheers
Benen

Talk to "Clint" he offered me a set today
I'm a little confused still.
the mounts that clint has are the steel ones. Does that mean I will have to modify them to fit the front four holes on the engine?
sorry - perhaps i am adding to it... humbly apologises...
the mounts you already have? are they aluminium? if so, then ignore what i said. If they are steel then welding and drilling fixes most things.
If clint has some, then just buy his and use the aluminium mounts as door stops.
I'm not sure if mine are aluminium or steel. All i know is that they are the rear mount fit. And clint isn't 100% sure if his are the front mount brackets and cant check because he doenst have the 1g anymore. I dont know what to do!
a magnet will soon tell you wether yours are alloy or steel.
I'll take some pics of the ones i bought today, then you can compare. I'll have to email them to you though.
hey stu. i tried adding u on msn but u arent online. my email is [email protected] not sure its its listed in my profile.
this is how i modified my inlet side 1g mount....
basically cut the corner off and welded a extra tab on to allow plenty of meat around the whole. i think one other hole had to be elongated a little.
finished product before drilling....
the exhaust side mount is easy.....you can just seperate or widen the engine mount bracket and it will fit the front position.
something to note though, i started out with the fabricated rear position mounts and modified them to fit the front.....apparently the 1GGE (Z10 soarer) and the 1GGZE mounts fit the front without any mods
and here is a photo of the rear position alloy mounts...actually i think the inlet was alloy and the exhaust side was cast iron. this engine was from a GX81 chaser......using the 'pedestal' type rubbers.
hello
I cutted the original brackets and added 50mm of steel per side. Since the added steel was equal on both sides, engine stayed in the same angle. Brackets sit now in the forward position of the block. So my 1G sits 10cm lower and 12cm more backwards now. Front of the 1G block is now more back than the my old 3T block was. My car is TT132 and x-member is modified KE70. Now similar as original one.I also had to fabricate new "slimline" oil sump. Gear stick and gearbox x-member was also mis-aligned by 12cm, so it was also modified.
Driveshaft was also shortened and I made the brake booster to sit more back to clear intake manifold.
Some pics to clarify me:

My 1g is 1G-GZE and the mounts swapped to front position without problems.
thanks so much for the replies everyone. I'll get onto it on the weekend!
Just a little info which may help.I have a 1G-GE in a Corona MK 2 and it uses the original M series engine mounts still with extra holes drilled in the mounts on the motor.Plus I also have an XT 130 Corona which is much the same as the TT132 and just in lookin at mine the 1G-GE would no doubt fit in the same way as what the MK2 does without modifiying the crossmember.Cause I am thinking seriously of putting a 1G into it also.
Cheers Brett.
I have an install guide hosted on the net that might show you what you need to know

Further more, the gallery on my site will show you nicely where and how the engine is to be mounted.
