    Default GA70 problems

ok guys my car has been off the road now for 2 weeks and it has the mechanics stuffed as to whats wrong what I am chasing is any info on the EFI system any manuals on the gen 2 1G-GTE or even a workshop that knows alot about the GA70 or 1G
the problem I am geting is the car idles fine but when I drive it the turbos spool fine I get my 9psi but there is no surge of turbo power its a slug without bulk time being spent on diagnosing witch will cost me thay are just stumped.I have replaced the O2 sensor that now works its not the cat or exhaust no boost leeks fuel presure is right
the next step is it could be the ECU
    please help

im stumped as to why you didnt use some more punctuation.....it makes it so hard to read your post.

    - are there any blockages in the inlet system?
    - are you sure that the exhaust/cat isnt blocked?
    - where is the boost gauge line connected? plenum? just so you know if the 9psi is at the engine or at the turbo......
    - fuel pressure??
    - there could be a massive amount of timing retard or incorrect cam timing.....

just some things to start looking at.

I get 9psi at the engine
    fuel pressure was all ok
we are thinking its the timing but the 1g's you cant just hook up a laptop to to tell ya whats going on

how bout putting the engine into service mode then gettting a timing light and checking base timing.

if that checks ok, keep the light on and rev the engine, it should advance then level out. that way, you will be able to see if the base timing is correct. if thats not right, then the timing for the rest of the RPM range will be outta wack.

there was a guy here with similar problems..

and he reckoned the timing belt was old and needed attention. not sure how to explain it but i'm guessing it's a tension issue.. and also the fact the teeth can slip if the belt is worn...

that said, if your exhaust is making lots of bubbly noise on the rev down, and the engine dies when you take off the oil cap, (indicating compression issue)..and also it's progressively gotten this way, it's definitely the same symptoms..

timing and compression is the first thing i'd check.. hope this helps

A recent thread on 1G engines has some info on ECU pins and diagnostics. It may be of interest to you. Given that your mechanic is not that familiar with 1G's, you might like to forward some of the service part info on to him if you plan to keep going there.

As for the punctuation issues your having, its never too late to learn! You will find if you place a full stop after every sentence, and a capital letter at the start, you will be able to communicate far more effectively than before. Sorry, just having a joke around!

Cheers. Sorry about taking the piss.....

Was it fine before and after the exhaust was fitted?
If so you must have a major boost leak or boost signal leak! how old is the engine and when did it start to happen?
