Default 1G-GTE Fuel Efficiency and RA28 Rear Seats

    Hey all,

Just would like to know what L/100km people are getting in a 1st gen celica (or equivalent) with a 1G-GTE...

Also, do the rear seats in the RA28 fold down?

I get around 9.5-10.5l/100km in my heavier car with modified 1G. I think you'd be able to beat that.

I wouldn't say that 10km/litre was expensive to run, when you'd be lucky to get that from a new Commodore, and it wouldn't be nearly as fun to drive. Anyway, fuel economy has a LOT to do with the way you drive. Spirited driving equals spirited fuel consumption. Granny driving means less fuel used. Personally I think using slightly more fuel to have more fun in my car is worth it.

10km/litre (or 10l/100km) is not expensive! (It's not as cheap as an Echo, but what would you rather drive)

I drive (granny) a BA MKII XR6 Ute as my daily and average between 11.5 and 12l/100km combined.

I would definately say that having a light car, with a great range of power and torque, only using 10l/100km (or less) is not expensive!!!

When you say that John, are you saying when you fill up? Or are you actually putting in 60L?

Exactly..i find it amazing how an engine like that can get good economy and yet, still be turbocharged and have a great band of power...compared to, as you say, a Ford or Holden 6, which has a limited band of power and guzzles like theres no tomorrow..and its naturally aspirated!
    Kind Regards,
    Kurt.

Turbos only supply more air to the engine when needed.

If you drive a NA car then the same car/engine turboed at exactly the same speed, accel, etc, the turbo will only use slightly more fuel.

So in reality you're not using the full 60L to a do those km's?
