Exedy ceramic button. If you stuff that go to a twin plate.
hi guys
i think i have blown my clutch yesterday and it was apparently a brass button type
i just had the engine tuned and it put down over 200rwkw.Im running a supra box with what looks like a t50 bellhousing with adapter plate
what would you reccomemd as a replacement?
(i havent looked yet but the sound and associated loss of drive has me pretty sure, the engine runs but something is rubbing on the flywheel and when i put the clutch in the noise gets worse!)
cheers,
Ryan

i second this mine is great easy to use great for the street altho if you are chasing any more power than that go twinOriginally Posted by kingmick
does the car drive at all? The way that this is worded sounds like there may be other issues. Like if the clutch plate was installed the worng way around and it undoes the bolts and FUBAR's things like the plate and the bolts and sometimes the back of the crank (flywheel spigot) where the the flywheel mates.Originally Posted by bigstickerperformance
I think that a more in depth description of what the actual problem is may be more revealing
YelloRolla's KE20 1/4mi = 11.32 @ 119mph @ 22psi on slicks
12.44 @ 113 mph on 165 wide street tyres
210rwkw - not bad for a smelly 3TGTE running pump fuel.
yea thats the thing i dosent drive at all, thats what i mean by blown! i was driving along the freeway dropped it down a couple of gears and gave it to it and then BANG! lost all drive so im thinking clutch or gearbox input shaft, but then a supre box is so tough.....
it makes worse noise when i put my foot on the clutch than without,There is no drive in any gears and something is rubbing pretty hard on the flywhell as in the engine dosent turn over freely
i assumed a brass button clutch would handle this power at leats to a point of slipping but to actually let go is that common
anyway i will update the story once i pull the thing apart,i have only just got it goin and im a little disheartened at the monemt
(its in a mk2 escort i will post some pics of the project sometime soon)
throwout bearing?
Does is whine when clutch is in?
Daily Driver: Red Ae93 Project: My TA22 - now with 3s-gteD is for Disco, E is for Dancing
yea it used to whine,i know that is the throwout bearing,i have a much larger problem than a noisy throwout bearing now thou!
the clutch disc may have broken arround the imput shaft in any case best way to find out is to drop the box and see whats what inside
either way its a box out job. Maybe its something to do with the use of the spacer plate between the box and bellhousing causing the imput shaft not to sit in the spigot bearing properly and hence causing the imput shaft bearing to fail ???????
Nice work on the power got to post a dyno sheet.

the clutch plate should only be able to be installed one way.Originally Posted by YelloRolla

ok i have pulled the clutch out, turns out it is a solid center brass button,it doesnt look good
now ehat is interesting is when they have adapted the box to the bellhousing some length has been lost on the input shaft so they made some sort of spacer to hold the spigot bearing
and
this is how is sits on the clutch plate
it all fell apart as i undid the cover plate but it seemed to just be held into the back of the crank by the clutch plate, and protruding thru the center hole in flywheel
im worried that there would be a possiblity of the input shaft walking slightly as its not pressed in?
any thoughts, could this have caused the failure?
the input shaft feels fine, not much play etc
