Default 2LT in MarkII, 22r and 2lt block simularity?

    Hi

I decided to put my 2LT engine into my markII, wich has an 18R in there now.

i figured the engine mounts out and such, but then i discovered the oil pans are complately diffrent.

i assume there is no chance my 18R oilpan will fit the 2lt?

does anyone happen to know if there is an oilpan i can use, or do i have to make one myself? i rather avoid doing this if i can.

someone told me once that the 2LT, is actually the same block as the 22R, can someone confirm this? if this is correct, i assume i can use my old 18R oilpan too.

Thanks in advance for any info

    The 18R engine is a 2.0ltr.
There is no Toyota engine called a "2LT". There is a 2T, which is a 1.6ltr.

If you are putting any other R series engine in, it will bolt in, the enigne mounts are the same.
    22R block is a 22R block, although it is very similar to 20R and 21R. 22R is a 2.4ltr, 20R and 21R are both 2.0ltr.

Basically, i dont know what you are asking cause it doesnt make sense to me, but this might help.

    Thanks for ur answers

Yes, its 2 LT engine, its the 2,4L turbo diesel, not the 2T, wich i wouldnt even consider changing for a 18R.

But to clarify what i mean, is if its possible that the 2,4L diesel, uses the same block as the 22r, since its both 2,4L engines.

Then i assume i could use my 18R oil pan on the 2LT aswell.

Im open for all suggestion to work out the oilpan problem.

    Thanks again

    Eww, a diesel enigne.

Sounds like a hard questions, u might just have to give it a go.
Get a 18R sump and try bolt it to this "2LT" engine.
    Try the mounts as well.
Prey it will sit at the same hight as the 18R.
Find out if the clutch assmebly and input shaft is the same.

Then you are all ready to destroy your weak E or T series diff
I think a 2.4ltr diesel will have way to much torque for the diff use on 18R's.

I am unsure of any similarities with the petrol and deisel 2.4's.

Is there any particular reason you want a diesel engine in your corona?

If it is the same as a 22R, then ull need a W58/7 gearbox and clutch assembly. And even the the petrol 2.4ltr gets a stronger F series diff.

    Hi again'

    My markII is a 1973.

i dont think the diff will be a problem, its not really racing machines with that dieseil engine, im assume it will run pretty much the same as my old engine.

the main reason i want diesel, is that the diesel cost half the price of gas here now, and i already have this engine ready to go, so why not use it, instead of laying around rusting apart.

Everything should be in place now, cept for the bellhousing and the oilpan.

the 2lt engine is actually the same length and height as the old engine, but its a tiny bit wider.

Dont worry, im not doing any modification to the car itself, just wanna save some gas for a while, and use the time to fix my old engine, or find a 18rg to drop in.

what's the redline on those? 4500rpm? it sorta makes sense using it, you might gain power(pulling power atleast) and probly gain economy too.

as for sump, you might be able to modify the 18r sump to fit if it doesn't bolt straight on.

actually im not sure what the redline is, but i think its puts out around 120hp, and you can adjust the pressure to 160hp pretty easy, its still a slow engine, but its very economical since gas cost 3 dollars a litre here now, or 12 a gallon, and diesel cost under half of that.

i guess i will have to measure the pans and see if i can find out if they will fit

I'd be concerned about gbox/diff ratios to suit the diesel

You can use a sump pan from a LH 60 hiace they run a mid to rear sump on the 2L in them .
