Is it a similar set up to what Eb falcons etc use? Those rear ends are usually kept std height for drags...with tall slicks. maybe see what height they are?Originally Posted by chris davey
I have Koni reds and low king springs in the rear of my car.
I used to have 25.6" tall tyres.
I have changed to 27.4" tyres.
It needs some additional clearance for big bumps and launches.
Would I be correct in assuming that if I get springs with the same tension as my current ones but 2" higher, would that bring me back to the same clearance that I had before?
If this is correct, anyone have some recommendations of what car would be suitable? It is solid rear end also.

Thanks

For some reason, I thought VN commodore springs are close to the Corona ones.
I cant remember where I heard this though.

thanks for the input people.
I rang King Springs and found that some model Corona wagon has springs which are 55mm higher than my current ones and are 200lb/inch compared to my current ones that are 180lb/inch.
If you have increased your tyre diameter by 2 inchs then you have only lost 1 inch of clearance, so therefor one ince higher in the springs would what you require to get back to the same height!!

Wouldn't standard Corona springs probably be a good budget start for strip work? Fairly high, and soft.
Had standard springs. They were too soft that when I punched it the car would squat so much that the diff hit the floor.
Trav: thanks mate. Looks like I should have plenty with 55mm then. I would rather go too far than buy new springs and find out that they are still scrubbing![]()
