    Default 4agze CAS into 4AGE

    hey,
    just wondering if a 4agze cas will fit into a 4age bigport and if;

    1) this is worth it as im going turbo + lt10s
    2) if modifing the dizzy and covering it up is the same thing
    3) anyone has one they want to sell.

    thanks

yes the cas will fit into the bigport head.

the dizzy is pretty much the same thing as a CAS, just with plug leads sticking out the top. hehe you can remove the cap and make it into a CAS/

would be good for a LT10s. im using one too and using a GZE CAS.

sorry dont have one for sale

So what would you have to do to the dizzy to make it into a cas? Just take cover off and put a cover over hole?

if you remove the cap and the rotor button then you basically have a crank angle sensor. the sensor part is under the rotor is what sends the signal to the ecu.

i think 4age has a hall effect type sensor (correct me if im wrong). make a plate to cover it and a gasket. then you will have a CAS that you can use on the microtech.

the loom will have the wiring labelled as to what it needs to go to on the dizzy

The GZE CAS actually has 3 sensors inside it, the standard one on the lower 24 tooth wheel but then 2 which are opposite each other on the 4 tooth wheel, whereas the dizzy just has 2, but the dizzy can still be made to work with most aftermarket ECUs. To run mine with the autronic I chopped off 3 of the 4 trigger teeth, chopped off the part of the shaft that holds the rotor button & chopped off most of the dizzy cap & replaced it with a flat alloy plate (which can't really be seen in any of my pics as it's obscured by the wastegate actuator- but seeing as we're all putting up pics of our blingin' engine bays, here you go! ).

And here's a less blingin' one of it before it got the cap that shows a bit more detail:

I found that people wanted stupid amounts for a second hand GZE CAS & coils, so I spent my money on
brand new bosch coils & moded my dizzy instead. It does the job.

The smallport dissy is internally identical to a GZE CAS.

BTW - the sensors are all VARIABLE RELUCATANCE sensors, they are certainly not hall effect.

Or......just get yourself a 4AZGE CAS ane be done with it. They are s$#t loads better than a dizzy when running aftermarket computers.
But if you want a challenge , you could try the 'Dizzy-CAS' like the other guys have said
    Just my 2 cents

How is the CAS better than a dissy? Explain please?

furthermore - for this particular application of an aftermarket ECU + multiple coil packs, the distributor will do EXACTLY THE SAME JOB as a gze CAS. So why waste the money?

Modifying the dissy is NOT a challenge. In fact with most ECUs, especially Microtech, you will not have to modify the dissy internals like Bigworm did. It will literally plug and play.

In future, please post accurate information, not disinformation.

Hey Witzl, I am just letting him know of MY experiences when tuning using either application. I myself have had better luck with the GZE CAS for tuning. PERIOD.
Fair enough if the dizzy will do the same job for the same application, but I PERSONALLY dont like it. Why go through all the trouble if you are not that mechanically knowledgable to do the CAS to Dizzy modification, when some pople dont have the time to do so. It MAY BE cheaper to just buy the GZE CAS.
I never gave any miss-information, just MY opinion.
    Thanks.

But there is no modification needed!

I'll just repeat myself for you....

The only difference between the smallport 4age distributor and the 4agze CAS is the dissy cap and rotor button.... the CAS does not have them.

    That is all.

But of course there would be a modification needed if you had to remove the rotor button, and cap?? THAT IS A MODIFICATION!!! And wouldnt it look ugly without the cap on?? **YES** it would!! Unless you want to do another MODIFICATION to make a cap for it OR keep the normal dizzy cap on there so no dust got in there. But oh how ugly it would be!!
Witzl, you are making a mountain out of a molehill.
"In future, please post accurate information, not disinformation" like you said.

There's no need to remove the cap or the rotor button. The only reason to do it is for looks. Buying a CAS is alot of money just to make it look nice.
And how "MAY" it be cheaper to change to a CAS?

So what your saying BIGWORM, is for the average guy on the street, he could just take the leads off the dizzy and connect the original wires and he could just drive off??
The CAS is cheaper as it is bolt in and drive off!! Pure and simple!!
Why is everyone making an arguement out of this, I am just telling him about my experiences, thats all!!
