Default Qld Supra Club cruise - Aug 6th

Hi all, Ive just come back from a meeting with the club organising a few things for upcoming events and though while Im thinking about it I may as well chuck a quick post up here to see if there are any Supra lovers in Qld that havent heard of the club and would be interested in coming along to some of our events.

Queensland Supra Club has only been 'official' since late last year but we had our first major club event in August last year, a cruise out to Sommerset Dam via Mt Glorious Rd. We managed to get 29 cars for the event which is pretty impressive for a new club and everyone had such a good time we are making it an annual event.

Basically the day goes like this:
Mid-morning meet at Yatala BP where itinerarys are handed out and we sort out radio channels and so forth as well a bit of a brief as to the routes we're taking and general outline of the day. Everyone fills up a FULL tank before we leave.

Then club heads up to Brisbane (not through the CBD) and out of town via Mt Glorious Rd. Theres usually a couple quick stops along the way for people to catch up.

We recommend everyone take a nice liesurely drive through Mt Glorious Rd as despite it havig some very nice twisty roads we dont want any incidents, let alone damaged cars or people. (Obeying all road rules is strict club policy)

Once out onto the highway we have another rest and let everyone catch up, then head off down to the dam.

At the dam we have a big BBQ for everyone to meet the new faces and talk general shit about cars, then try to line up as many Supras as we can for a photo shoot along the water. (Yes, there is still some water in the dam!)

Once everyones had their fill of sausages and used up all their film we group up and cruise back down the highway home together as long as possible then Brisi/GC people head off in seperate groups.
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Tips for the day:
Paid club members have the BBQ for free. We are more than happy to have non-members along for the day but unfortunately we dont have the budget to feed everyone for free. If you register your interest we will be able to supply food/drink but there will be a small fee. (Enough to cover costs only)

If youve got a CB/UHF radio, bring it! It makes things alot easier to organise as well as helps the tourists find their way.

The QSC is a proper registered non-for-profit association. We are not under any circumstances going to tolerate mis-behaving shenanigans. While we are not going to act as everyones mean mothers for the day we do not want to see people getting excited and causing trouble for the club or putting other members or the public in danger. Keep it safe and everyones happy.
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------
The club details and info on other events up-coming and past events can be found on our website: www.qldsupraclub.com
Membership fees are $35 per annum but membership is not required for this event. (However we encourage any Supra enthusiasts in the area to join as the more member we have the better and more frequent organised events can be.)
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you are interested in coming on the cruise or have any questions, please post here or PM me. Im on the forums fairly often so Ill do my best to get back to you ASAP.

    Cheers, Ed
    (QSC Vice-president)

Just over a week to go! No interest? We've got 27 members signed up so far, expecting more to sign up a couple days before as usual.

Good oppotunity to meet up and get some awesome pics with lots of like minded people and have a squiz at some very nice setups. My 2JZ powered A70 is probably* making its debut there.

*Pending whether I can get hands on a couple minor parts in time to get it engineered.

The drive down the back of Mt Glorious to Wivenhoe is a good test of your brakes (if you're driving enthusiastically).

Being hilux-based at the moment, i'd feel a little out of place - but there's a few Supra owners around the traps?

Qld events do seem notoriously difficult to get numbers ... unless it's a boring cruise down the M1 to some equally boring beach carpark.

i hate you! why is it so hard to get other makes of Toyota's out for a run? ;-)

however, I'm all for hilly roads - it's just the straight motorway bits that i find uninteresting!

i hope you folks have a good weekend - i'll add an note to this months club magazine and let people know at this month's general meting.

4am sounds fucked! As long as you are going to make sure you will be there. Sounds like it will be a tough one for ya, cause I will be pissed off if leave the party early and you don't end up coming. I couldn't be fucked turning up to a supra cruise in a skyline by myself

I'm yet to give a supra a bit of a run in my car I have had a few GTR kills though
