I should think it should be OK as they came standard witha mechanical fuelpump. It may depend on the modifications to your 18RG.If you are producing bid HP an electric may be better but then you will be restricted by the diameter of the fuel lines from your tank.

fwiw, stock RA40 fuel lines (which would be nearly identical to RA23 lines) from tank to engine bay can shift enough fuel (at low pressure) for an 18R+turbo running 13psi boost - so i don't think the lines are a restriction.

Airfireman1's suggestion of a low-pressure electric pump down at the tank is a good idea if you want to remove reliance on the mechanical pump.

    cheers,
    Charles.

Yes, the 18RC and RG mech fuel pumps are interchangable, but if you can be arsed, definitely change to an electric fuel pump. This makes the whole package more reliable, and keeps your fuel pressure nice and stable.

BUT sidedraughts need less pressure than downdraughts (typically). This means most 'leccy fuel pumps for carbs run about 6-9psi, which is a bit much, so you can either use a regulator or track down a low psi pump. About 4psi is ideal.

    Hi,

Although the pumps are physically interchangebale between the 18R-C and the 18R-G, they do have different Toyota part numbers. So, I'm not sure the 18R-C pump will supply the same pressure as the 18R-G pump.

If you're not using your 18R-G for race/track work then the stock 18R-G pump is more than sufficient for your needs. Sure, you can put on an electric pump, but it's not worth it and you'll get no benefit if the car is to be used for normal street use.
