Best way to remove paint from wheels? (Jelly bean type)

Hi
Just wanted to know what would be the easiest/best way to remove the black painted centre from my jelly bean type mags?
I want to go the whole polished wheel look.. i think the black centres look a bit too... bogan!

I would think paint stripper should work fine as you are going to polish them afterwards so any clear coat removal & or any possible tarnishing from the stripper would not matter ..

Depends how old and thick the paint is
could try a good metal pollish and a buffing wheel

Thanks guys! I ended up taking them to an engineer (mag wheel specialist) and he said you could remove the paint, but it would be rough underneath, not smooth like the rest of the rim. So i've left the rims with him and he's going to machine the centres smooth for me!

Yes most of the early style mags were rough in the centre.To save you money it would have been easier to use a wire wheel on a drill or grinder which would have ripped the paint of in seconds.

Its ok.. i didn't mind paying cause a) i don't have the tools to do it myself and b) i'm pretty sure i wouldn't have done as good a job!
This is how they came up after polishing with finer and finer grade wet and dry, then autosol. Pretty happy with them! Just another 3 to go lol...

Got a good set of 235/60/14 tyres that would suit those Spitfire 1 mags to a tee

I'd imagine 235's would be a bit wide for the Crown? I'm getting 205/70's for it..
