Got all this gear but never got around to working out how to make it fit.
Thanks for the write up, will help in the future.
you will need:
front discs calipers and hubs from a PRE mid 74 ta22 the ones with the "small" bearings,
11mm drill bit,
angle grinder.
Step 1
strip front hubs down to bare spindles on rt40 then fit ta22 backing plates with 2 diagonally opposite bolts.
Step 2
using spindle as a drilling guide, drill the 2 new holes, you will also need to remove a small amount of metal from the lower part of the backing plate as circled in pictures below.
bolt on backing plates remembering to fit split pins to the required bolts, install hubs and calipers.
Brake hoses are from an rt81.
you can upgrade the master cylinder using a ka laser master cylinder to a dual circuit type,no brake booster needed but can use a remote booster if desired.

Hello sbfoot i figured out the problem LOL but i am having another one the back brakes now lock on with the ka laser master cylinder did you have this problem cheers Alex
Hi Alex,
I use standard size rt40 wheel cylinders and don't have an issue, make sure your shoes are adjusted correctly (mine are more likely to lock up when not correctly adjusted.)and your lines at your master cylinder are fitted to the correct circuit I think the master cylinder has an f for front and r for rear, next time I have the back wheel off I'll double check the wheel cylinder size. What year model rt40 do you have?does it have load sensing brake proportioning valve at the rear that allows more rear brake bias when vehicle is loaded?
