Can you pls go back to your previous sig? It was a lot less frightening to the eyes.. and the "spirit" of the sig rule is to ensure sigs are not that big they consume more (and detract from) than the actual post.

Which is most of the point i think, if admin XYZ decides to log in on a RDP term at 640x480 then they may as well infract the entire forum....

The 5 line thing must be implemented as carriage returns, its the only way of making the playing fields level.

sigs should be 5 lines of text at normal "forum size 2" font.
Not 5 lines of text at "forum size-7"

Trying to be clever and making your signature as it is now is probably not the best course of action.

I could be wrong (and probably am) but it seems to me like he doesn't have control over what his sig is now, as hinted at by his last two posts.

Someone is playing funny buggers with Gavs sig, he didnt have one last night and couldnt enable it. So infracting him for some mod being a dickhead is a bit shit.

Karl: also, rules state:

• No signatures with more than 5 lines of text total at a resolution of 1024x768.

The infraction system INSTANTLY stops working when people decide to take the interpretation of the rules liberally.

Now we need to re-word the rule to say something like "2-size font" because someone thought it would be cool to use the largest font in their sig. So, if we do that then anyone who has 3size or larger font are in breach. And, when they are infracted for it there will be more outrage and cries of nazism.

We seem to be forced to put in specific rules as there are some people who seem to lack the basic intelligence to understand the spirit of the rule, and rely upon literal translation. It's a never-ending circle... more stupidity and smart-arsedness equals more rules.

I've gotta ask though, is all this really worth all the time and effort? I mean, if a sig is sensible and not too long can't we just leave it alone? I'm sure there are other things on here that are more important.

It'd be like police cracking down on people that don't wear shoes while driving. Cos it makes a difference.....

I just went in and reduced the size of his sig to 2-size, so he can't cop anymore infractions. He can put his sig back in properly when he gets back home and logs on.

so if we (meaning you) are rewording rules... can we reword the one about "classified items" in the signiture.. can we change it to no "for sale" items in the sig since its been made pretty clear that having a wanted item in a sig doesnt actually bypass any rules of the classified section..

Didnt know someone other than Gav was messing with his signature. I thought that Gav editted his signature to be a little bit smart-arsed.

If i can remove the infraction, i will (dunno how!)

I do think the rules should be changed. When we originally wrote that rule years ago i did suggest to be specific and mention the font size to avoid such an issue of abuse, however my suggestion was not taken on.
