    Default F series Torsen options

I remember reading a thread about this not long ago, but buggered if I can find it again...

I think I've got 2 options: buy a trutrak from the states (can't find PN of the correct one), or I've heard rumours of an altezza diff being compatible?

    part number 911A342

Also the IFS F-series diff from a Hilux/4-runner will work, just needs ... something done do it (which was cheap and easy, just can't rememeber what)

    Or the F-series Altezza one.

I'd go with the truetrac though, much stronger IIRC. They make a 'RWD' specific one now that is more $$$ but supposedly is stronger.

    is that the 911A565?

Is the Altezza one a bolt in jobbie? If it's significantly cheaper it'd be hard to pass up...

Mind you, the 911A565 is about 570US+shipping, so not too pricey...

Is the 911A342 a direct fit? I might go with that if it's tried and tested, although I do remember something about dissasembling it and altering something to get an extra 20% drive from it (because it's actually a FWD diff)

dunno about that, but I've run group buys of the 342, and ran one myself in a 250rwkw ma61, and never had any complaints.

Norbie ran one (a 342) in his 2jz ma61, and despite going through 3-4 gboxes never shat the truetrac

If you don't mind me asking, where did you group-buy them from? Might hit them up for a decent price...

The thing you need to do to the 911A342 Trutrac is get a specific bearing for it. It has a 50mm carrier and stock is 45mm. The bearing part number is Timken 32010X. Came as an option on some of the F-series, but not sure which ones. Costs about $30 a bearing.

    Cheers Chris

I did a group buy from a local mob - back when our dollar sucked, it was a great deal. Now, to be honest, it'll be cheaper from the states for an individual.

Someone from toymods (Karl?) has done a groupbuy from rabidchimp previously as well

if you want a "proper" lsd, get a TRD 2 way, Torsens are no good for track work or drifting imo.

TBH, I've got a tight clutch-style LSD at the moment, and I feel that it makes the car understeery on corner entry, pushes the front around...

yeah a weldy is most commonly known for causing understeer matching the issues your having thus why a proper LSD is needed your must just be too tight
