not sure, i was under the assumption that the ra60 and mx62 combo was easier and cheaper. I have also found these parts locally. I also have 14" rims
If i do hilux/pug conversion is it more expensive/harder to do ? What about a stronger mc ?
Hi,
seriously, if you can weld. This is a very easy conversion. I will ask though too, why not go the hilux calipers and the pug rotors while you're at it?

Hi,
i'm unfamiliar with the ra60/mx62 combo but i can imagine that yes it would be cheaper and easier, not that the pug/lux is expensive or difficult. The rotors need slight maching as they are slightly too big and you will probably need a bigger master cyl but there are a few options out there. Mine has s ga70 master cyl. My rotors cost me $170 for the pair, 10 for machining. The hilux calipers cost me 20 each. They were in good nick so i threw them straight on. I do have another pair that i'll be rebuilding when i swap it all over to my next 28. It's the rest of the build that cost a bit!

i have done the ra60/mx62 conversion and it is a really good setup, good if this is your first try at changing things, the only problem is with the ra60 conversion you need to drill out the thread on the strut. doing this means you cant change your mind later and throw on the pug/hilux setup as you need the thread to bolt the calipers on to...
my advise would be if your only running a standard engine with standard power and just want better brakes go with the ra60 setup, if you have anything a little more interesting under the bonnet you might as well be safe and spend the extra coin on some awesome brakes...
im currently building up some struts for the pug setup so i know the ins and outs for both types...

cooli will only be running a worked 2tg at best !
then in my opinion the ra60/mx62 setup would be best for you. you wont notice a drop in hydrolic pressure and it truly does stop on a coin...
cheers

just go the xt130/mx62/ra60 combo and just roughly pre assembled it and i was amazed how well it all goes together!
only things i need to do is grind of a small portion of the stone gaurd and add soem washers/spacers so the caliper bolts on nicely
now to order the coilover kit![]()
Hi,
I am leaving the stone-guard off mine. The RA60 discs have less offset that the standard XT130 discs, so the stone guard doesn't wrap around the edge of the disc, making it less effective as a stone guard. Does anyone know the legality of this relating to ADRs etc?

btw i got it all for $130, i reckoni couldve go it cheaper but he was a good guy to deal with so i didnt want to haggle him![]()
its not just a stone guard, it also helps with cooling, altho i did leave mine off with the ra60 setup,
cheers

is it ok to leave it off or is it not roadworthy ?
I'd be game to say it inhibits cooling? I don't see how in any way the stone guard improves airflow to the brakes over having them completely open?? Also, the RA60/MX62 upgrade you have to swap the calipers over, so the stone guards are going to be facing backwards. If they were designed to improve airflow, I'm betting their effectiveness would be reduced by having them backwards.its not just a stone guard, it also helps with cooling, altho i did leave mine off with the ra60 setup

Just finished doing this to a RA 40 except I used the XT 130 solid disc with the 2 different sized Hilux/Landcruiser 4 spotters and did not have to space calipers either like others did with the Pug discs.Straight bolt up no mods at all except the cutting down off the dust shield to accommadate the calipers.
Cheers Brett.
so if the mx62/ra60 is good for a worked 2tg then it should be fine for a 3t/2tg hybrid as well correct? would the pug/hilux be overkill? however you can never really have too much braking power i guess![]()
