if for economy.. sure.. but you will reduce max revs at which you get benefit since total flow of intakes decrease
I was just chatting to a friend about direct injection and he said, now we just need to adapt that to a 4AGE............
What If...........
you began with a 20V.... only used 2 of the 3 intake valves... and turned the 3rd intake valve into a direct injection port?
Be kind........

if you were even going to attempt something like that you'd be better off trying to put the injector in another location. look at where a few other manufacturer's locate there's and go from there
Hi,
Put the direct injection where the spark plug is, ramp up the compression ratio and run it on diesel.

Invent a combined injector/spark plug for easy DIY retrofit to any vehicle.
Make millions, then buy me a Caribbean island for giving you the idea.
What for?
Why not just use a later engine that has it already.

Do I hear a 2GR-FSE up in this biatch? Makes the new SIDI Commonwhores look pathetic![]()
The above opinion is just that - my opinion. It is not shared by any business that I am currently or have previously been involved with, nor any of their employee's.
Oldeskewltoy i love the idea of sidi in a 4age but thinking about how to set it up and make it run does my head in. As for the 3.6L commowhores motor lol i must say they do go pretty hard....but being sidi they take a little longer to kick over for some reason.
but really nothing is impossible if you put your mind to it(unless its daewoo)
if only direct injection was so easy, injecting the fuel isnt the only problem, the other issue is getting the fuel pressure right cause the fuel is being squirted into a compressed cylinder. for example the mazda mps runs elec fuel pump 60-71psi and mech fuel pump 410-1885psi i know its a turbo car but the theories still apply.
So to DI a 4age you would need to work out an injector arrangement and a mech fuel system (maybe adapt a Lucas fuel system)
Yeh the sidi commodores have a mechanical pump close to the rail that pushes out 2000 psi. it would be the trickiest part really and i would imagine getting the fuel injected at the right time too....if not that could cause good ol' ping i would think?
I've seen a bolt-on FSI injection kit for 2 strokes - the orbital high pressure compressed-air sort-of direct injection. I'll google it tomorrow (coz I'm going fishing now), see how they do it.
I have an injected 2 stroke outboard using that technology (etec), and it goes like the clappers, with great economy
Well you're in luck and halfway there because the SI in SIDI stands for Spark Ignition and the 4AGE already has that.
I really can't understand why you'd want to go for DI in a 4AGE though, as you'll make more more power with conventional injection and if you want DI for economy then there's better engines to do that with ..... and with the costs involved in converting a 4AGE to DI it'd take you about 57 years to recoup the cost in the fuel saved, if any.

it all depends on the engine , but there is aprox 2% better fuel consumption with Harmonious AFR Direct fuel Injection , With Lean Burn AFR Direct Fuel injection you would get better consumption again , from what iam told lean burn direct injection is not used in AUST ,
