Question knock in a 2005 sportivo

    Hello all..

First thread..Ive got a '05 Corolla Sportivo,(some of you may of seen it on the recent cruise).. knock in the NSF + OSF suspension, can hear it from one side or the other.. heard it a few times, but extremely noticeable when i got a full car. Anything common with this? Its still under warranty.. Spose i better take it back before it runs out in 2 months/4,000km.

I actually heard the knock when i was in 2nd gear, just about to hit Lift, going through Macquarie Pass on the cruise.. it was on an incline..

Thanx for ya help fellas.. Daniel

p.s maybe some of you's work at Toyota and get a common problem? it should be covered by used car waranty aye??

also, when i close my OSF door, with window all the way down, and when i wind the window up after closing, its asif the window mechanis is lose or something, i can hear it like knock aswell

their my main concern, others are brake shudder, at like 120km, so dw about that, and wheel alignment.. so yeah those 2 up their are mi main concern.

what the hell are these TLAs you are using?

    NSF? OSF?

Anyway... most common front end suspension knock on these things is from the front swaybar nuts losening. Have there been any suspension mods done to the car?

The lose window is a common problem with these cars also. They always rattle when you close the doors if they aren't all the way up.

PS... correct(ish) english will get you a long way in this place...

    so I'm guessing 'near-side' is Driver's Side?

Did you buy this car new or is it second hand?
If second hand, any idea of the history of it?

Many of these cars have lived a hard life so it could also have shagged bearing on the front end, but that does not explain the knock moving around from side to side, as you explain. The best bet if to check out the swaybar and make sure everything is nice and tight (with a torque wrench, not my hand) Standard torque on them should be 75Nm.

lol they're a bullshit abbreviation. From now on we will say Drivers side or Passenger.

I've found knocks can be anything from the upper shock bolt being loose, worn ball joints, or the swaybar linkage being worn/loose.

So the front end knock only happens while the car is carrying a couple of people? Doesn't happen over bumps? Corners?
As said before, start by checking the toruqe on the suspension bolts. End links, as said, 75Nm, upper mount nuts are 30Nm, lower mount bolts are 150Nm. Also make sure the brake hose hasn't come lose and is tapping on something.

Common problem with the camry`s is the Strut Tops , May have even been a warranty recall on such an issue.
