Destroyer of 'Drop Forged' spanners
Rack and pinion already there, tranny tunnel will accomodate a W58, F series diff.
Measure the space between the strut towers, if 670mm or more you'll be right. I'm guessing you'll need a front sump motor and you may need to do some fancy stuff with extractors on the driver's side.
It's a bit out there but not in the realms of impossible.
thanks giant.
Ok, who wants to do this for me? I can supply two cases of crownies haha.

Actually now that I think about it, I might be wrong about that F series diff.
You'll obviously need a bellhousing/flywheel to suit. Mounting could be done over a weekend I would have thought.

RT142 has T-series in the IRS - you'll get plenty of practice changing them if you went 1UZ
edit: this is wrong - am obsessed with T-series diffs for some reason.... it should be F-series.

I'm pretty sure of that too.
Anyway, this would be a nifty conversion.... and would make a hella skid-machine.
...... butt scratcher?!
Nope, RT142 is F series IRS (fully imported) or Borg Warner live axle (locally assembled). Obviously the latter will explode on a regular basis, so make sure you get an IRS version. If it's manual it will already have a W57/8 in it and a good diff ratio (3.58:1).Originally Posted by thechuckster
As for fitting the engine, it's been done in an RA6x Celica and the RT142 engine bay is very similar so I'm sure it will go in without too many dramas.

RT142 has a W55 in it.
Bog warmer diffs will definitely explode spontaneously upon starting the engine.
