what model landcruser is it?
Hi everyone,
Just a question.. My dads (94?) Landcrusers motor is stuffed and i thought rather than spending money on it fixing it why not put a V8 in it..
So my question to you is.. Would a 1UZ-FE fit in it and if so will it bolt up to the auto box in the car already and is this motor the go for a 4WD.. I know this site is mostly sport/ power/race cars but someone should know...
Thanks,
Pisso.

Its an 80 series..
Has a 1UF-FE?
would be either a 1hz diesel or 1fz petrol engine i thinkOriginally Posted by pisso001
Yea but its not a V8... lol I want a V8 in it... I think i might have miss read the build plate and it might already be the 1FZ.. 4.5 litter 6... Anyone anymore about this.. has it been done before?
ive done then in 70 series
alot fo people put 6.6 lt chev diesel turbos in them
but the problem is gettin the auto to work
the engine ecu controls the auto so there would have to be some stuffing round with sensors and such to get things to work
but if u have the money anyhting can be done
but if u pay someone you might look at 7000 to 10000 g for drive in drive out
Yeah alot of people put 308's and chev 307's in them and there are kits out there but for your 1uzfe might not be the most common job so it would be a custom job, too much dollars involved, if your not willing to spend the money would be better to go to the wreckers and get a replacement!
Get a re-con 1FZ and turbocharge it (avoid anything over 26psi and nitrous though)

Yea thanks for all the imput guys.. I think i like the last sugestion best.. I was hoping for a simple bolt her up job.. Probably a little too hopefull..
Thanks all the same..
Pisso..
I should give yousome background mate-I say turbocharge the 1FZ as I put an internally std one in my crown and turboed it and got good results. I put it in 4 years ago and have been gradually winding the wick up since then.
I had some trouble with the head gasket leaking once boost went over 19psi or so, but head studs helped. If you fitted head studs and kept boost to 15-18 psi it'll deliver around 250-300rwkw reliably, and the torque number will be over 700nm.
One of the standard rods failed in mine recently, but it took 26psi and a 100hp nitrous shot to do it. (538rwkw)
As for management, a unichip or similar piggyback unit could be used to deliver the extra juice.
Swapping in a chev, 1UZ or similar will not give the same results for the same money. Leaving the existing engine in there, reconditioning it and putting a turbo will be the most cost effective option.

at end of day u need over 5 grand to do anyhting worthwhile
so go see how much money there is to spend then see your options
whichever way u go it wont be cheap
We're in a similar predicament with my brother's FJ42... it's in very very good condition but now it's a cough and splutter machine and is quite lacking...
He was close to buying a new hilux, and still might, but we'd like to do the old beasty up... she's 1969, so almost 40 years old hehe.

most conversions costs are similar no matter what engine u go for
i did a late model electronic diesel injection 1hz 6cyl into an early landcruiser i think it was
workshop said it cost up towards 15000 for everything but the car was so much nicer to drive
and ive done afew 1uz into early cruisers
make sure u go manual box i say
ownsers awlays come back with happy faces after conversion
Sideshow, this is exactly what I am thinking of for my wifes 80 Series. A 1UZ-FE and it is already 5 speed, so this will make the ECU change over easier. You did my 1JZ electrical conversion into the Cressdia at Richards (Mr Cressida) at Erskine Park a couple of years ago. I will definately be calling you if and whenever I undertake this conversion.
MS-75, what turbo set up were you using and where did you get all your manifolds from? And I guess you are talking about a stock motor that you achieved all those Kw out of. Well done :-)

have a look in the members section mate
started off as a gt-42 from memory, and kinda grew
