Default 1JZ factory fuel injectors, how much power can they give?

    Hi all,

I'm posting for a friend with a 1jz powered 180sx. I just wanted to clarify the factory 380cc injectrs max power capability. From memory it was around the 250 rwkw mark, is this right? He plans to be running a single turbo setup similat to my own with low boost and a mild tune for the time being while other peices come together.

    Thanks all

250rwkw is about their limit AFAIK. As long as the fuel pump will keep up.
Maybe better to run 230-240rwkw while other things are coming together just to be on the safe side? Thats still plenty for a 180sx!

Is this person 53tup from NS.com?

What sort of ecu? You should be able to check duty cycle and tune it to run a nice 12:1 AFR at whatever boost level reaches around 85% duty cycle.

A good rule-of-thumb is 5cc per hp per injector.
So a 380cc injector (using the typical 38psi fuel pressure) is good for about 76 per hole. So for six of them that''s about 456hp at the crank.

I wouldn't go past about 220rwkw as thats when the duty cycle is reaching the end of the safe area. 240 and over and you run the risk of melting holes in your pistons.

im pretty sure one of the SupraWA guys Ben with gunmetal R-type jza70 has ~350rwhp from a T04z and Haltech using factory injectors... running something like 18psi i cant really remember.. but the power figure was around 350 or 355 rwhp..

SICO1J was using factory injectors for ages with 60psi base fuel pressure and making some very good numbers. One of the graphs I saw looked a bit scary AFR wise though. I wouldn’t have pushed them that far.

Chris, I've said it befor; I'm gonna make that list of yours soon. Nick and I will be heading upto Willowbank to battle it out. 230rwkw and 1200 kg vs 300 rwkw and 1600 kg, who is your money on? I think it will be to close to call

    whoever gets traction

Which will most likely be you with the extra weight.

Is your car auto or manual? I forget now.

Also, if you are ready, there are a heap of people going out to Willowbank. Check the events section for more details

if u throw in 440cc ones, will the stock computer lean it out to compensate fot the extra % of fuel, or will u need a SAFC or the like

You will need to have a piggyback to lean it out. The stock computer will run it but not be able to compensate for the best power.
These will support up to 250- 270rw with stock fuel pressure.
