Hello all, this is my first post so please don't be too hard on me =)
I've recently acquired an AE93 Seca SX, which I am loving. However, I have noticed that both the engine and A/C fans are constantly on, whether the engine is on or not (or, in the case of the A/C fan, whether the A/C is on or not).
Has anyone else come across this? A friend of mine said that it is likely that a wire is unplugged somewhere, but I can't find anything that isn't connected. If followed all of the (visible) looms as far as possible, but can't find anything....
Any help would be greatly appreciated
If i remember correctly they have a sender/switch to turn fans on at temp, if unplugged or open circuit it will make them run all the time. I think it has one wire and maybe in the head or top area of the block on firewall side. been a while could be wrong.
there should be a remote thermostat housing bolted to the top of the gearbox.. there is a sensor and plug there that controls the fansthe sensor might be fubared... someone like ashdown ingram might have a generic replacement

I've had a look around for unplugged wires, but so far no luck. I'll keep looking around though. Thanks for the advice
If you're talking about the sensor I think you are, it looks fine, but I'll pick up one from the wreckers just to see if that fixes it, then I'll buy a new one if need be. Thanks for the tip![]()
replace your fan switch champ, thatll should stop the engine fan... sounds like it open circuited, there very cheap, im talking like $20 or $30
the aircon fan on the otherhand.. maybe its blowing cos the engine fan is getting it going?.. otherwise start testing for power etc.
That sensor that your talking about it may look fine but it could be faulty thus not giving a reading which then open circuits the sircuit which brings the fans on.. if it's defenately not unplugged and the sensor is fine there must be a broken wire somewhere in that circuit or it could just be a faulty relay. check for continuity in the wires with the switch unplugged
Just a note that the aircon fan is also switched by the coolant temperature as well, it will only operate independently of the rad fan when the rad fan need not be on but the ac condenser needs to be cooled.
