Alternator - same for bigport/smallport 4A-GE?

My question here is thus -


is the bracket the same for the bigport alternator as it is for the smallport one?

Reason I ask is because my alternator just committed suicide and killed my battery, and i've still got the alternator from my old bigport (in fact, it's still on the motor) and I was wondering if I will be able to painlessly swap over alternators, effectively putting my bigport alternator onto my smallport motor.

I ask because the motor is about 30 minutes away, in a self storage shed I don't have access to after hours, so I thought I'd ask now before I waste my time and go there, pull the alternator off, take it back to my car only to find it doesnt fit...

Lucky you wrote that, otherwise you would've been neg repped for not getting a spanner out and trying.
I can't help you though, try search the net until you find out on here, you might find that someone's mentioned it in a conversion writeup.
I could find out if they use the same alternator belts at work tomorrow, would that help? I don't even know what model corollas these engines came out of though.

Oh, and I got neg repped anyway for my signature....

but I've changed it now, for whomever -ve repped me...
