Howdy happy toymodders,
Ive got a it gz20 with a 2nd gen 1ggte in it and i have lost all injector pulse(checked with noid light)-the engine fires and idles(probally off the cold start injector?) but has no power, and dies after a 10-15 seconds- spark is healthy, kicks over well but no dice from the injectors-
Based on what ive researched from this site it had to be either the ecu or the little thing on the guard(resitor pack?) that powers the injectors-can anyone tell me if they reckon im in the neighbourhood or am i going down the wrong path-
also does anyone know and domestic toyota with the same injector resisitor thingo?
Cheers to all in the universe![]()

OK update,
I changed the injector resitor pack(for all future reference 1g and 5me use identical part), still no injector pulse.
Ive got constant 12v to the positive injector pins, but no earth.
Is there anything else in the circuit between the ECU and the Injectors? if not sounds like my computer is fubar.
Any input would be greatly appreciated, ive really got to get this thing moving!

Wires. Check em
Also check all earth connections to ECU.
For the ECU to earth the injector negatives, it needs a good solid earth itself![]()
disconnect the cold start injector plug and see if it runs at all.
If not, then probably earthing issue - if it repeats the 'runs for 10 seconds' thing then something is making the ECU shutdown the motor.
Are you getting any error codes?
at least the ECU is firing the spark plugs.. so is not completely dead..
did this happen suddenly and it was runnign fine before?

Yeah, was running beautifully, then just died. was driving it down a corrugated road at the time, so ill do another plug and earth check. get back to yall later and thanks for the advice!

earthing of 1G igniter case, plus the bundle of earths that come to one single point somewhere on the back/rear of the intake manifold are both important.
Brett up in townsville had a flakey 1G until he attached his igniter properly.

Check the AFM plug.
The fuel pump runs when the key is on START, and when the AFM flap moves.
If the AFM is unplugged, it will run for about 10secs and then stall.
The CSI only works when the key is on START, and is no where near enough fuel to even idle while cold.
As for the injectors not firing, I'd say your test light is too slow
Yeah, LED noid lights work best for injectors, I use nothing else. Although when just idling, even a small incandescent bulb will usually show a signal.
Fluke 123 or 196 or equivalent
It could (possibly) also be a stuffed ignitor not returning IGf, however I think that dies sooner than 10-15 seconds.

Yeah, its about 2-3 pulses per injector before it gives up. Not long.
