Just thought I'd let everyone know I got this handy little tool working again:
http://akb.norbie.net/Public/Gearing.aspx
For those who haven't seen it before, it's a tool for calculating the maximum speed for each gear, given information on the tyre size, transmission, diff and engine redline. It will also calculate engine speed for a given road speed. It will even do a pretty graph if you want to compare two different combos.
Oh and there's also the axle code translator for those too lazy to Google it (note it doesn't work for the newer axle codes, eg A01A, because those make no sense):
http://akb.norbie.net/Public/AxleCode.aspx
I'm still working on the Toyota Axle Database but it's more of a drama. It's built on an Access database (I know, I know) and my web host doesn't allow that any more for security reasons. Bah!
Anyway, enjoy.![]()

This really is very cool, thankyou! I'd been doing similar things manually or in excel.
I'm especially pleased that it seems I don't need to change speedo wormgear to go from 3.5 to 3.9 diff, just the external one
Addition of W55 would be handy, keep up the good work.
Bout time.
Yay
Cheers

I have an experimental new graphical calculator online, I'd be interested to know if this is working properly for you guys?
Clicky-clicky
Note you will need to download and install the Silverlight 2.0 browser plugin if you haven't done so already.

Works for me...but no E151 box
One suggestion i would make is to have it calculate the circumference off tyre specs that you can enter in.
Sure it isn't a hard calculation to do, but would just make it a bit easier.
Looks pretty good to me tho!
You can enter tyre specs etc from this page:
http://akb.norbie.net/Public/Gearing.aspx
Then click the "Dynamic Graph" link at the bottom.![]()

The dynamic graph works for me from the link you gave, but the link from the gearing calc to the dynamic graph is broken
The dynamic graph is pretty cool.
P.S. Thanks for fixing the speedo calc links![]()

that is an awesome little tool norbie...+rep
I just re-checked and it works for me.Originally Posted by Stefan
In what way is it broken?

The "Dynamic Graph" link from http://akb.norbie.net/Public/Gearing.aspx doesn't work, just like the "speedo drive gear" links weren't.Originally Posted by Norbie
I have been using it for my manual conversion and diff setup to get an idea on the speeds etc of the w58 with a MA70 lsd in my car and it looks like it will have long legs lol, with the 3.9.1 ratio, should be good!
I also checked the top speed that i did in my MA63 mteu mk2 celicasupra with the A43D which was 215kms at 5500rpm with my 225/60/15 tyres and the results are exactly right!
This is awesome! Did you design all of it yourself? If you did then that is very talented mate.
Thanks +rep
Yup, it's all my own work.
Are you entering all of the relevant values before clicking the "Dynamic Graph" link?Originally Posted by Stefan

Yup. Every other link on the page works...Originally Posted by Norbie
What browser are you using? I haven't tested it with FF yet.

Heh - I tested the other bugs in both IE & FF before logging, and thought I did with this one too, but it was on another machine with an earlier version of IE.Originally Posted by Norbie
It does work in IE7 but not FF, which is odd, as the other links work in FF, and this one *used* to...
Thanks, I got it to work in FF now.Stupid browser differences...

Is there any way to swap the kph and rpm axis on the generated graph, maybe to look a bit more like this?
